I’ve finally got the answer I was looking for. The day/night sensor on the dash was the problem. A new sensor has me back to normal with my screens.
Yes, I did that first thing. That control works as it should, as well as the brightness control in the sync settings. This problem is not to do with those adjustments. This problem is caused by the system being stuck in the night position.
I’ll do that, I checked with the service department again and will get it in on 6/25/2026. So that’s next week. I’m not very optimistic that they will find the problem, but they could I suppose.
This problem is exactly what a bad or disconnected day/night sensor would cause. However, I certainly don't know if that's what it really is. There are many possibilities here. I'll let the service department take a crack at it, and see where we go from there.
That is a possibility, but not until I’ve exhausted all other avenues. I don’t share your opinion that the selling dealer will be any better than my local dealer.
I agree with you, You have laid out the logical approach and that’s what I plan to follow. Who knows, I might get lucky. The biggest problem I see is that this is not an isolated issue. This has affected many other people besides me. So it’s not likely a loose or broken wire.
I didn’t buy it from them, they didn’t have what I was looking for. That shouldn’t make any difference, because I’ve bought a lot of new vehicles from them. That’s why I know the service department quite well.
My problem is that I have very little confidence in my local Ford dealer service department. Don't ask me why I have that opinion. So I most likely will have to trouble shoot it myself and fix it, or live with it.
I'm going to try lifting the sensor out of the dash to check it. I am also looking for a wiring diagram to see where that wire connects to. So I can check that end of the wire as well.
I know for sure this is not normal. This is my third Maverick and they all worked the same. This one worked correctly for three weeks and then suddenly changed. I agree with wblake68, either the wire has been disconnected from the sensor or there is a possible problem in the sync system which is...
It will be a while, the Ford dealer told me it will be the 14th of July before I can get a spot in line. I knew that would be the case, so I hoped that there was an easy fix. No such luck.
My sensor seems to have stopped working. It stays on night all of the time so that my screen displays are always dim unless I turn off the auto headlights.
Has anyone had their Day - Night light sensor on the dash or associated components replaced. If so what was actually done and what was the symptoms of the problem?
After some checking, that didn’t fix the problem. The problem stems from the day - night sensor not working correctly. It is in the night position no matter how much light there is.
