Dealer installed? Hard wired? Which kit? Do they look like part of the vehicle vs plug in add ons?
Thank you.
This kit: Dashcam with Rear Facing Camera Bundle (VHL3Z19G490K)

Yes, I had the dealer install it in both vehicles although I suspect you could do it yourself. The service advisor did tell me that some of the inside trim where the wiring for the rear camera was a little challenging.

Note that the rear camera is mounted to the back window of the Maverick. I have a shell on my truck and opted not to run the camera to the back of the shell.

They look like any other dashcam. The advantage in my opinion is the wiring harness is designed for the vehicle.

Ford accessory Front/rear. So far so good. Used my reward points to help pay.

Thanks for the info. I web searched the item number, and it comes bad as the Thinkware Q200. And it's $180 at Best Buy. I wonder if there is any difference between the regular lot and the Ford Accessory kit?

Garmin DC 57, though I do need to set up some permanent wiring instead of having the cord dangling down to the 12 volt source with the USB adapter plugged into it.

A bewildering variety of dashcams out there and I'm thinking of getting one...so I figure, why not ask youse what your go-to unit is?
Cobra and it is very versatile. During an incredibly scenic road, I was able to mount it on the exterior of the windshield for amazing footage.

From my past experience, I have tried different dashcams with batteries, I can tell you that the one I have in my Minivan has been in temperatures from -20F all the way to 130F ambient temp, windshield temps were probably warmer, that is the reason I went with a camera that has a SUPER-CAPACITOR for the power source, other cameras have died (even a $200.00 one.)

WOLFBOX G930 soft-wired, with wires everywhere. Rear view cam is really useful with the cap.
Any pics on how you mounted the rear camera are appreciated!

I've had an issue when connecting the dashcam phone app to the camera, to adjust settings or download video, I have to unplug my Motorola MA1 Android Auto dongle from the truck or it won't connect.

Not sure if this is a common issue with other dashcams, but it took me a while to figure it out the first time.

I have the Thinkware F series 1080p front and rear cams that Ford offers using my Fordpass points. The video is nice and the sound is good too but I hate the app as connecting to it takes a while and sometimes does nothing so I have to re-enroll it. I think it may have been where I was holding my phone when I have it connect to its wifi. I need to update the settings cuz it might be too sensitive for the motion detection recording when Im parked.

I have a similar Wolfbox camera. I like that it’s sorta hidden because it goes on top of the rear view mirror. I keep the screen off since it still records. The glare is sufficient for daytime reflections

the app isn’t bad. I think it’s easy to navigate on the main screen. I’ve used it to record some bad drivers.

Running wiring wasn’t too bad. I took my time with the hardwiring aspect since I haven’t fooled with car fuses before. This site

That's not a common issue. I have a NextBase front and rear dash cams in my 2019 Explorer and the MA1, never a issue connecting to either in my Explorer. Also have a Cobra front and rear dash cams in my Maverick and a MA1 as well. No issues connecting to either one.
