Good day

I have and really like my ROVE camera's and I have a single Rove in my camper van and a dual (x2) Rove camera in my Maverick. They came with the proper SD memory card (important to get a fast enough card to work properly) and a plastic trim removal tool...but go buy a set off Amazon, I had a set already).

Lots of good cameras but whichever you pick, I would recommend that you get a dual camera which you are then recording what is going on in front of your truck as well as the 2nd camera mounted in your rear window covers your back.

Most accidents it seems are rear-enders, and having both can help with hit and runs as both ends of your truck are covered.

With the Rove and many other good cameras, they can be plugged in via your OBD2 data port (how I power mine) or you can get the plug system to hard wire it in...this allows your camera to wake up and start recording if it senses your truck has been hit while you are not there.

Watch several installation videos so you can see how to run the wires and so that you do not interfere in all the air bags (in the front pillars for example) ability to properly deploy. If they don't mention to watch out for the air bags, find another install video!

Good luck in your search,

Andy
The Rove R2-4K Dual looks like a good product. Do you use the app to view videos/pics or do you remove the card? If you use the app do you have to pay for upgrades to use all of the apps functions. The app I use for my dashcam requires an upgrade to use advanced functions.

Good day, @pc4mike

Via the app, you can watch and download any of the dashcam videos/pics.

You don't need to pull the card to see/look at it, unless that is the way you like to see it on your computer, etc.

I was not aware some dashcam companies use a subscription service for their apps! That is a new one to me.

So, I guess I should just say that with my Rove camera you just use the camera and app, no worries.

I actually have an update for my camera's waiting for me, I just need to go out and do them...all free of course.

Subscription costs for things that should be included would peeve me to no end so I would not recommend anything that required a subscription without adding that caveat.

I hope this helps you out,

Andy

Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, the app I'm using has an annual subscription fee, or lifetime fee, available to use some app functionality. App still does basic functions such as view and download vids/pics and alter camera settings.

I have the Wolfbox G900 TriPro DashCam with the rear camera mounted outside above the 3rd brake light using a 3D printed bracket and I grabbed power using a WolfBox OBD II Port adapter - this has proven to be a great solution and I’m very happy with it…

I bought an unknown brand a year ago on Amazon for $98, now $119. Simple operation. Works great and saved me from being responsible for an accident after someone t-boned my 2022 Maverick causing $15k in damages.

I wish someone made a regular-ass mirror with an integrated front facing dash cam.

I value a stealth/oem look.
I purchased this camera.
4K 12" Rear View Mirror Camera

And this mount.
Mirror Mount

The only issue I have with the mount is the mirror is rather heavy and I periodically have to readjust the mirror when the road gets a little bumpy. I am also having an issue with recording with the mirror/camera where it seems to skip or miss periods of time. I have the recording time set to 3 minutes and there will be instances of 3 minute sessions missing. I'm not sure if it's the micro card or something I've set up wrong.

Have any problem fitting the mount?

The mount fit the camera just fine, no adjustments needed. I vaguely remember having an issue getting it fitted onto the windshield mounting block but it might have been the order in which I was doing things. In the end it fit just fine. The only issue is I periodically have to reposition the mirror due to dropping down. I have never checked to see if there is some sort of tension adjustment in the arm pivot mechanism. I guess maybe I should do that one of these days

Glad you like it, but I think we must have very different definitions of "regular-ass mirror," because to me that's a screen with front and rear facing cameras. If I were to go that route, I'd likely buy a Wolfbox.

I purchased this

Thanks, waiting on a mount for my Wolfbox 850. I have a Rexing in my F150 but the mount did not fit so I used the mount but kept securing it with the straps.

It's a touch screen. There is a separate rear facing camera place in the rear window. You can display the rear camera or the reflective screen. I don't care for the rear camera view so I use the reflective screen. It's probably not the greatest mirror but it's sufficient for me.

As I posted before it works just like a mirror because the screen is a mirror. The MX3 I posted before could not be screwed to the mount so it is strapped The interior camera hanging down is optional.

The rear camera is a separate wired unit that plugs into the mirror cam. Literally a rear view mirror with a camera, or up to 4 included.

Far as rear camera vs the rear view mirror, The Rexing I use displays the mirror in daylight and as light fades the rear camera over comes the daylight mirror. The only visual change is the camera's wide angle of view, did not take me much time to get used to the display shift. The night camera view auto adjusts for light intensity removing any need for dimming the RV mirror.

Yeah, dude. Sorry if I hurt your feelings, but I'm not 'bout that strap-on life.

The MX3 I posted before could not be screwed to the mount so it is strapped

74 years of hyde building up. Gotta do more to hurt my feelings. These units can be screwed to mountings. I can't help if you fail to do any research for yourself.
