It's a touch screen. There is a separate rear facing camera place in the rear window. You can display the rear camera or the reflective screen. I don't care for the rear camera view so I use the reflective screen. It's probably not the greatest mirror but it's sufficient for me.

My main goal is to not have my phone connected in anyway (wired or bluetooth) to my truck. If my backup phone doesn't end up working I'll likely use my TomTom.

I downloaded all of the US maps for the Sygic GPS app that I am currently using. I think I'm going to give the OSMAND app a try once I get my backup phone powered up again (need to replace the swollen battery first)

In my previous vehicle I used a TomTom and had no issues. Since the Maverick has a reasonably nice screen in it I'd much rather use that for the navigation.

I have a TomTom that would be an option if nothing else works out.

So no matter what the phone has to be connected to the truck whether it's with a cord or wireless dongle. I still have my previous Samsung phone (saved as a backup phone). From what I've been able to find out the gps location service will work on that phone even without an internet...
