Has anyone encountered bad gas from Costco lately? It’s been reported on local news in Atlanta lately and more people are coming forward with this issue. Not sure how wide spread it is.

Do you have a link for the local news?

Costco sells TOP TIER gas, purchases its supply in bulk. The company does not produce its own gas, nor does it develop its own additive package. As such, the bulk purchase could be from ARCO, Mobil, Shell, etc.

As a side note.... Cost is not a franchise, all of the warehouses are owned and operated by Costco HQ....

No, but I only use them when I go monthly shopping there.

Pricing model for Costco is simple, they poll the prices in the area multiple times a day and price below that. Gasoline is a loss leader like the $1.50 Hot Dog/Soda and $5 Rotisserie Chicken.

Ridiculous click bait. People need to stop believing and spreading stupid internet bullshit.
Possible one Costco gas station has a contaminated fuel tank, yes, Costco in general, no.

As everyone knows gas is gas until it's in the tanker truck then it becomes a brand.

I just want to point out that any gas station can get its gas from anywhere. There was a case way back when that said that Exxon gas stations didn't have to sell Exxon gas.

What makes Chevron gas is a little pull-top can of Techron they add to the tanker. Other gas is similar.

Costco is usually a nickel or so cheaper around here. Always massive lines. Find it amazing people will wait in lines travel farther. Just to save a nickel.

How’s that for click bait?
I think he means that this happens here and there, but news articles tend to make it seem like a major incident that should never ever have happened. Also that they blow it out of proportion or word titles to draw you in.

Eg.
"Tonight on KYNB 5, stale bubblegum and it's impact on children!" (Sarcasm, please no one repost or Google this)

Makes you think said bubble gum is causing children serious health issues and it's just fluff.

Is the bad gas causing serious issues or some sputtering / knocking? If it's the latter then I think the point of calling it click bait is like saying "why are we even talking about this let's move on" 🤷‍♂️. I def feel like that sometimes.

I've never heard a first hand experience where bad gas caused damage. Only guesses that it was bad gas causing poor performance.

Anyway, that thing about the bubble gum and the children is horrible 😆
