Anyone else who cleans under the hood? Looks of stuff that makes it difficult but I hate to pop the hood and not see clean. I mostly use Simple Green.

Be careful with Simple Green on aluminum parts. It will cause them to corrode if not rinsed off completely.

I use compressed air under the hood every few weeks and sometimes wipe down with a damp cloth. Nowadays with the under-engine trays, they stay pretty clean.

Use leaf blower for loose debris and dust, rinse with pressure washer (hold nozzle a few feet away to avoid too much pressure), soak with simple green for about a minute, use brushes to scrub lightly across the entire engine bay, rinse again thoroughly, use leaf blower to knock off most of the pooling water, cover entire engine bay with Koch Chemie Motorplast, close hood and walk away. Check hood after an hour and look in amazement that the Motorplast has cured and the engine bay looks brand new, no drying required.

The whole process takes me about 5 minutes, not including the dry time. I will usually wash my truck after I clean the engine bay so the Motorplast can do it's thing while I'm washing. The stuff is an absolute miracle in a bottle.

Yeah the Maverick seems to allow a lot of road debris gravel sand and whatnot to get in the engine compartment.

Like others mentioned for now I use a mixture of my mini Ryobi blower and a air compressor. When it gets dirty enough that I can't wipe it down after a car wash with a damp towel I'll hit it with a mixture of Dawn and water deluded. Then dry it with the blower and the air compressor.

A pressure washer is the last thing I would use under the hood.

I just use compressed air and wipe down accessible surfaces with a damp towel. Just for my peace of mind I avoid spraying directly with hose or especially power washer. Moisture is not your fried considering all the electronics and wiring harnesses around the engine compartment. I've seen so many mechanics post videos tracking down electrical problems caused by corrosion inside sealed connectors and fuse distribution boxes.

🤔 I never heard of Motorplast, where can you buy it?
