2023 Hybrid Maverick XLT with 10000km.
Took the Maverick on a long distance drive and while trying to accelerate fast while passing a car, noticed that the check engine light came on accompanied by some power loss. It was almost as if the engine wouldn't downshift to gain speed. Almost caused a head on collision. Took it to the local ford dealership and they claim they have never dealt with this issue. Said error came up as "Clutch A slippage". They said it could be the transmission damper but they are contacting ford hotline to see what to do, Said they might have to take the whole transmission apart. CEL is gone now and it seems to be driving fine again. Has anyone got a definitive answer on how to fix this??

Trans damper issues on some hybrids in past. Slippage can occur if the damper springs bottom out. (Maybe don't accelerate quite as rapidly even though computer should know limits, I assume springs need to be longer or stouter or program needs tweaking?). The ice and trans has to be removed and broken apart to replace. Might search for damper threads. If it happens again get off the go pedal and then push again.

The tech told me it was "Clutch A slippage". He didn't actually give me a code number, just what the code was in words off his computer.

Engine damper: sounds plausible.
I have seen/heard of this before.
Keep us posted.
Will do!
THe thought of taking the whole transmission off seems a bit scary to me.

It was almost as if the engine wouldn't downshift to gain speed.
The Hybrid doesn't "downshift" because the eCVT doesn't have/need multiple gears like a conventional automatic (or manual) transmission.
