Cheap auto-dimming, homelink mirror

Both of my orders came/coming from the Kia store in Gilbert, AZ. That email was to contact them if any issues, so I assume it is where I ordered from.

I had a little problem I thought I'd share while installing.
Getting the mirror up was not an issue at all. It took less than 5 minutes.
I got it wired up in about 5 minutes then discovered it wouldn't power on.
I was using 14-18g taps and they weren't penetrating the wire covers enough to hit the wire itself.
The pictures in this site don't convey how small these console wires are.
On my way to get 18-22g taps and get it powered up.

Got it hooked up and working.
Looking forward to the auto dimming after work.
I ended up wiring the constant back to the keyed.
Didn't like the idea of being constantly powered after seeing drain issues people have had.

One thing to note that I didn't see discussed is that it is a little concaved*, meaning that things look closer than the original mirror.

While parked at a red light the car behind looked close then the side mirror showed that it was a normal distance away.

This just in from the Not That Anybody Really Cares Department:

I just hooked up a KIA mirror to a 2015 Toyota RAV4. There were a different number of wires in the two clips and the wires were all the wrong colors but I figured it out and now my RAV4 has an auto-dim, HomeLink, compass installed, RV mirror. Yee Haw!

The Home Link thingy ONLY works when the ING is on, but that's okay. And it's a good thing it is, because I really didn't have a choice. That's just the way things worked out on this particular application and there wasn't much I could do about it. I think this was another $25 well spent.

If you were late to this thread like me it is extremely hard to find the mirror online with part number A7062-ADUP1. I tried about 3 places and they all cancelled the order a day later. My local KIA dealer had none but they ran a nation wide search for the part. They found a dealer in Mass, Nevada and N. Dakota that still had them. I called Mass and they had just mailed their last one out this morning. N. Dakota still had one and they were shipping it to me but it was $$$ - $40 total since they would only ship via 2-3 day express - their policy since it was glass. No sure if they had any more. Fargo, N. Dakota - 701-281-9165. I did not call the Nevada dealer - 702-567-8000 to see if they had any in stock still. Some dealers I called said they would put me on a backorder list but the chances of it every coming in once the product is discontinued is rare. I never had a Ford part come in on backorder once a product is discontinued. I also tired to get part number B2062-ADUP1 at several locations since it looks to be the same but those orders were also cancelled.

Who would have thought a old KIA mirror would become as rare as a Maverick Hybrid? Good luck to all. I ordered and received another mirror the day after I ordered a 2024 Maverick.

So I got the camera assembly off and the mirror on but having a hard time getting the light assembly off. I have the sunroof and I tried pushing in the tabs from above but either I'm doing it wrong or I can't seem to get to pop. Don't want to break something off. Any tips? Tried watching some YT videos but no help. Am I supposed to be lifting and pushing them or lifting off the top?

Edit: Figured it out. I just gave up on trying to push the tabs in and basically just pried it out. Popped them off but didn't lose any. Mirror installed.

I'm sure this will work just fine, as its just taking power from the forward collusion warning camera. The beauty of this harness is you don't even need to access the sunglass/map light panel, that black cover above the mirror is all you need to pull off.

Yeah the 12V to forward camera is key switched, no constant 12v here so just tie the two wires together. I like it better to not have Homelink activated when it's parked anyways.

Ah cool, so any small DC step down converter should do, or can just take apart a cheap car charger.

Have any more of these harnesses? Would like to buy one if so!

I'm at a loss here....Anyone have a intermittent power issue with their mirror when tapping into the purple/white wire in the overhead console. It all seems to lose poser while driving at night. If I pull out of the garage the next day into the sunlight, everything begins working again until I drive the vehicle again at night. I am pulling all power from the purple/white wire to power the HomeLink and compass/auto-dimming features. There was a post that said something about pulse width modulation, which I am not familiar with, that could be on the purple/white circuit??
Any help here would be great.

Just a heads up to the guys having issues with cancelled orders regarding the Kia mirror, go online and grab an arbitrary vin from a Kia that takes that mirror and attach it to the order when prompted. I had my order cancelled twice, and the third time I attached a vin and had the mirror 4 days later. I’ve suggested this on a few different forums and Fb pages and everybody has had success doing this

What Year/Model did you grab your VIN from? Because no matter what I select, I get a message saying the Kia parts site cannot verify fitment. Thank you in advance!
