Just curious everyones thoughts on these dealers protective coatings. It seems they all use some sort. The two I called use Cilajet and Surface Care. Same price, and they both come with similar warranties for paint and interior protection to seats, and other surfaces.

The products seem gimmicky to me, but the warranty is intriguing.

just wondering if anyone hasexperience in this arena.

Dealer protection vs professional detailer ceramic coating, pros cons etc?

or Just keep waxing myself and buy covers for seats?

This is our first new car in over a decade, just trying our best to protect our beautiful new Mav.
Don't buy a product or service based on a warranty. You will find the effort and inconvenience it takes to get anyone to honor it isn't worth your time. The small print will get you.

I don't ceramic coat my vehicles. I have space to wash and then dry out of direct sunlight in my garage. I use Maguire's spray detailer every couple of washes. You can purchase products like Scotch Guard - there are others - and spray coat your seats yourself for $10-20 and an hour of your time.

Dealer applied Ceramic is pure garbage, and 3 times the price. Get a real ceramic job done.

Really appreciate you taking the time to share. Scotch guard is what we are going to do.

still not 100 percent on paint. Dealer has been eliminated as an option. We are either going to wax it regularly or pay a detailer to ceramic coat.

appreciate everyones input.

Using dealership or a detailer? Or yourself?
I did mine myself right after delivery. I washed it clayboard it wasted and then did the ceramic coating. Since then I've recoded it a couple more times. Maybe not a professional job but it looks great to me and is holding up well

My dealer applied some sort of paint coating and tried to have me sign off and pay for it. I didn't appreciate the sneaky tactic and refused. I was told I wouldn't get the warranty. I have engineer sons in the "Big Three" and they assure me the factory paint needs nothing but washing.

Well. What is wrong with factory paint and washing?

What is wrong with factory... Absolutely nothing. Just wash it regularly, use a good wax like Zymol a couple times a year, don't let bird droppings sit on the paint, use a finish detailer like Maguire's and always use clean scratch free towels like microfiber.

I avoid car washes, "touchless" is BS and leaves micro scratches in the clear coat. I would rather skip a week and hand wash when I have time than go to a car wash.

Use a sunshade especially in summer to protect the dash, steering wheel, audio speakers and seats from baking in the sun. Keeps the truck cooler when you enter.

Appreciate someone else who understands! The detailing industry as a whole can be confusing and brands/detailers are not a huge help with coating misinformation. However, when you do some research, these coatings are more durable, look amazing, and help keep your paint cleaner, for longer. They do however need more meticulous prep steps, but it is worth it for sure.

I applied the Gtechniq CSL and EXOv5 on my Mav and maintenance cleanings have been incredibly easy. As you said, dirt and grime just seems to roll off with a simple spray. I also recommend topping with Gtechniq C2 as it not only helps protect the coating layers, but aids in sheeting water to combat water spotting. I just quickly spray some on every few months after a wash.
Yup I have the Gtechniq C2 detailing spray too and will probably do a quick wash later this week. I have no affiliation with Gtechniq, though I feel like I am advertising. However, I more or less stuck with a consistent line of products for this little detailing project, with exception of a light duty clay bar kit from Chemical Guys, and an Adams Mega Foam soap.
I have enough CSL and EXO left over that I might detail the John Deere!

Gtechniq is great! I love their lineup of coatings, especially their trim coating. That has kept my plastics looking great since I have had the truck.

I have also used Gyeon, CarPro, P&S, Shine Supply and most recently Aquatek. For me it is Gtechniq all the way, although the new Gyeon Evo lineup is fantastic and I love the kits their lineup comes in.

getting old and trying to keep up with times. Had someone tell me you have to be careful with ceramic. No clue which route to take. Thank you for the information

beautiful truck. Like that color.
So the ceramic does not hase like wax and you can not leave it on too long or it will become dark and then it is really hard to get off. The key is to follow the instructions on the bottle and be well organized and diligent. I did my wife's Avalon over a year ago and it still sheds water like the water is angry to be on that car.

I have not. I just checked out their site and I would be interested to test them out at some point, however, I do not like some of the tag words they are using. For example "It does not smear" or "fills in scratches" ... All coatings will "smear" or leave behind what looks like a smear if they are applied too thick in certain areas. Some are easier to correct than others, but I have not come across a true coating that avoids this issue. As for the "fills in scratches" no product will fill in scratches, let alone a coating. Unless they are referring to swirls and light imperfections, but in that case I have not seen a coating do this. That is more along the lines of a classic glaze, which honestly has died in this industry since coatings and new technology has been introduced.

Not saying Nano Pro won't work, but you might have to take them at less than their word within their product descriptions.

Scott HD on youtube is a pretty good resource to compare various brands and longevity.
he might not have sampled some of the new stuff out there though.
