I remember seeing this pop up somewhere but cant find the thread. Can an XLT Non-Luxury Maverick have its Key FOB remote start enabled? I am generally curious, I know I can use the ford pass app which is awesome.

I don't understand the point of remote start from the keyfob when you can use the app for free, the distance is greater from the app too.

Maybe because not everyone wants to send Ford all their personal info (everywhere you go in the vehichle, and your cell phone data) in exchange for using the cellphone connection to the truck? I for one will not sign up for using that.

The fob is different, the non-lux key doesn't even have the button.

I have remote start via app on my Chevy volt once in a while it won't start even though the app says started. The key works everytime. Sucks when you are expecting a warmed up cabin but get a frigid one instead.

Yes it’s $100 for the fob plus programming plus the other security package(forgot what they call it) which I think was $200-250
It’s on the ford accessory website

Yeah I seen that too and I didn't think it was worth it.

Agreed
I’ll wait for a 3rd party to make one that uses a T harness into the factory harness that is plug n play and uses the factory keyfob

Ford is probably the least of my concerns of "being tracked", if you have a smartphone I've got some really bad news for you... Well worth it to be able to start from anywhere.

iDatastart will come out with one for sure. Minimal wiring , once the T-Harness is verified. I'm thinking the FM8 harness will work, but I haven't verified it via idatastart as of yet. I'm a 12V specialist at Crutchfield, so I do this for a living. It wont be long until they have a solution that is tested. There is a SMALL chance, the OEM keyfob may not work and you would have to get an add-on RF kit... but the 2021 Escapes Standard key keyfob works with a 3X lock to start the vehicle, so I don't see why the Maverick wouldn't work.

Unlike giving the information to Ford (who has no business knowing where I go), the cell phone is a necessary evil to do business in this day and age. Not having one is all well and good for retired people, not so much for working people. In any case, it's not like Ford just sits on your info, they sell it to advertisers, and anyone else who will pay. I for one choose to limit that as much as possible, and having the cell phone provider doing it is bad enough.

Even though my Lariat has start on the FOB, 90% of my use is still on the app. Most of the time I want to remote start, I am out of range of the FOB. I don't want to go all the way out to the last 30-40' of my truck to start it. Most of my starts happen either at my work desk, the church pew, or from my Master Bathroom when I am finishing getting ready for work. All out of range of the FOB.

Don't get me wrong, I like having the FOB option too. But if I could only have one or the other, I'd take the app. Fortunately AT&T LTE is very ubiquitous in my area. But I have a feeling AT&T will refarm its LTE spectrum for 5G in the future and the LTE footprint will start diminishing. This will happen within the life expectancy of the Maverick. The FOB remote start will out last that.
