The Ford mobile service tried to do the backup camera recall for my Maverick today and the tech gave up after unsuccessfully trying to install it 5 times. Get your act together Ford!
That's your dealer's choice - not Ford.

They don't have to send the newest guy with no training.
Another post the guy arrived without a formatted USB drive, which means package not downloaded yet either.
Yeah - all could have been done at the dealership while they did one onsite for training.
They chose not too.

Your guy - who knows if experienced or not - someone may have been on vacation.

It's your dealer. They are only getting paid so much for this job - if they can use their cheapest person, may they can make money on it.
Until their shortsightedness causes a bad module upgrade, then a tow to the dealership if done remotely, wipes out any profit or breaking even, and now they may have to use one of the more expensive guys back at the shop anyway!

I had mobile service come to my house last week to do the recall. It took him about 45 minutes and it went on without a hitch. I learned that there is other things included in the recall besides the rear camera. The tech said that’s routine to include other items rather than issue recalls for each issue. So those of you who don’t or won’t do recalls remember that little tid bit.

The tech was on the horn with the Ford hotline and they still couldn't get it works. So yea Ford shares the blame as well as having all of these recalls in the first place. But you are correct that it will cost the dealer more as now they have to come pickup my vehicle and bring to shop to investigate further. It is annoying because they were supposed to pick up my vehicle and take to shop in the first place, but then they decided to do the mobile service.

While it's commendable that you're using your rear view mirror or turning your head.
This is what the average 42" 5 year old child looks like standing 25 ft away from the back of your truck.

Needless to say your mirrors are pretty much useless, if a child is standing directly behind your truck.
My back up cam works fine but since I’ve gotten my drivers license around 1975, I’ve also gotten used to doing the walk around, just peace of mind. Dogs & Cats ya know!

Service manager: "Hey Ted - you did one of these software updates, you feel comfortable going out to do one today?"
Ted: "Sure, no problem."
Bill in background mumbles to self: "but I actually did it while he watched"

I kid you not that when the tech rolled in I thought he was 18 years old. But he also did the battery replacement recall and did a good job. I have had other more senior mobile guys out for previous recalls and updates and it alway seems like there is a problem.

The tech did look like he was about 18 years old. But, he did do a great job replacing the battery for that recall while he was here.. The dealer will pick it up on Friday and try again for the backup camera recall.

My camera recall got done in my driveway without a problem, but my local Ford dealer has been pretty good on all this stuff.

Trying damn hard is a lot different than experience. I did say he did a great job on the battery install, so yes there still is some hope for the younger peoples. So did you make your post just to be confrontational? Seems like it to me. I see that a lot on this forum.

No Sir! Just saying. And you are correct, experience matters, very much so. But I’m too tired to argue about this shit on this forum! You have your opinion, I have mine. Thought I was being nice but….

I’m a tech. Let me give you the insight on this atrocious “ford audio” system. Prior to the recall being released there were updates made available that would fix certain concerns like screen, freezing, and connectivity issues. For every five Mavericks that came in for an update for that one would succeed. The hardware is extremely limited and Ford does a very poor job and optimizing the software. I’m the only one in my shop who does the 24S59 camera recalls. Again, maybe three out of five times does the recall actually complete right and properly the first time without having to be restarted.

Ford really dropped the ball with this one and at least, to their credit, they did fix it in the 25 by making Cync for a standard option. I personally am planning on adding sync 4 to my truck following a forum on here to help with poor sounding audio and overall experience.

Mobile tech came out Monday spent just over 2 hours and could not get the fix to take. Stated he had to go back to the shop and talk to the other techs. No call back and no ETA for him getting back to me. Called the dealership two days later and told them the experience and stated I'll drop the vehicle off so they have no excuses getting the recall completed.
