So it's a fake rev's sound
There are some EV’s in my neighborhood that cruise by sounding like there are electronic musical noise generators in non existent cat back systems. About as loud as a standard ICE but otherworldly.

Edit - I leave my neighborhood with my windows down typically. Can wave & say “hi” to neighbors. I did notice my BOV whoosh slowing from 2nd to 1st lol. Adding to the diversity of vehicle sounds in my local fauna:)

Guessing you shopped around a little before purchasing? Was there a reason you chose the boomba? I’m considering one, but I admit I haven’t compared any other brands.

I did shop around a little bit. I did not know what a BOV was & never heard of Boomba before joining the MTC forum.

I looked at Boomba ($100) and also the less expensive “knockoffs” on Amazon ($30).

The Illinois made CNC & Anodized BOV was manufactured 20 mins from my childhood home - although I did not know that at the time. Just knew I was paying a premium for a lower 48 product.

So I picked the simple Boomba over the simple knockoffs. I imagine the knockoffs would work fine.

I know there are more complex types of BOV - diverting some of the blow off back into the intake? Why do that? Adds more complexity? I did not research the reasons.

Now that I’ve been driving for a bit - the BOV does not “blow off” very often. Don’t want to waste any boost. But if I’m accelerating & have to lift off the throttle completely for some reason - I do get a “whoosh” that is kind of fun:)

Easy to install on the new Gen EB. Three screws to remove the Bypass Valve. Insert the longer screws & BOV - and put back on. The Bypass Valve is easily accessible on rear top of engine bay. I say pull the trigger!

I have not messed with my new Maverick Tremor enough to know where and how the BOV works, If it is anything like the BOV/bypass valve on the V6 Ecoboosts there is a rubber diaphragm that can rip and leak. I have a tuned 2.7 and installed a vacuum operated Turbosmart BOV for the extra reliability, these are tune-able to set for a clean release and return to idle. My 2.7 is pushing 22 PSI near 30% over stock. The right BOV adds reliability and some tune function beyond the stock unit so it can be more than just additional noise.

Most likely to try to mesh between what the ecu expects and what it's not getting.

The bov takes what would normally be recirculated back, and expected by the ecu, into the intake tract, and dumps it to atmosphere instead.

There is really no point of a bov, aside from getting the noise, on a stock modern vehicle that came with a dv.

That said, the noise is cool, but imo infinitely cooler on a manual transmission.

Our EB’s use a MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) that measures the air pressure INSIDE the intake manifold to calculate the proper fuel squirt.

The OEM bypass valve pushes the excess air pressure back in the turbo stream to be pressurized again. The BOV pushes that same excess pressure into the atmosphere pssshh. Neither the OEM bypass or the BOV affect the MAP sensor. ECU don’t care about the pssshhh.

Chops got it right! MAP air/fuel ratio control is what Ford Ecoboosts use.
MAF metering on the other hand is sensitive to air flow, and need a tru bypass to fully meter the AFR.
