Why do you consider it AI slop?

The graphics are in perfect harmony with the dialogue. No generic out context visuals found in AI slop.

The test protocol is robust. If AI - the test was well thought out & presented. Maybe you’re one of those that think all AI is slop. Not a healthy attitude imo.

I can’t but think you take most offense at the put down of using 87 octane? There are good arguments to be made for using 87. Express those points instead of resorting to the tired “AI Slop” gambit?

The photos have almost nothing to do with the subject and are all random. There is no link to the testing. Who performed the testing? Location? How did they determine fuel economy? I trust watching TFL videos where they show the fueling, show the pump gallons, show the trip odometer, and calculate in front of the camera. This AI slop video, I do not trust, especially when the teaser photos are nowhere to be seen. They offer no evidence of engine damage from running 87, just a small increase in fuel economy from Premium. That is what AI slop is. Sorry if you feel different. Youtube is overrun with this kinda garbage these days.

That video is AI slop. It doesn't show any engine damage difference like the teaser photos show. It is all about a small increase in fuel economy, which is probably more significant on the F150/2.7 than it is on a Maverick Ecoboost. Also, I haven't seen a 30 cent gap between 87 and 93 in Georgia for probably 10 years. It is currently closer to 70 cents at most stations.

You get off cheaper in GA, here in Wisconsin it's $1.20-$1.50 from 87 to 91, the 87 is E10 the 91 is ethanol free, the next county over to the state line is 93 E10 same cost as our 91. A trick here is to stop at fuel stations where people would normally not be filling up boats in the summer or snowmobiles in the winter, these stations always add another 25 cents.

87 makes your computer retune, but it runs just fine.
I can get 93 Non Ethanol real gas.

I’ll put 93 in mine maybe once every 5 fill ups. Other than that it’s 87. The wallet can’t handle the price difference to do it every time.

I have found out that mine likes 90, in the ATL metro summer at least. I mix 87 and 93 at the Costco pump. Throttle hesitation is gone, even in eco mode.

I am tuning the mix based on ambient temperature. Colder gas burns better, so I am expecting to run closer to 87 in the winter.

As for the math, here is my take.

At this moment 87 is $3.60 and 93 is $4.30. So, 93 is about 19.4% more expensive. Mixing for 90 I get that to about 9.7% over 87. I get 4-6% better MPG over 87. Variance is from me guessing how much is still in the tank and aiming for a 50/50 mix. Let's call it 5%. 9.7% - 5% = 4.7% = $0.17 per gallon. 16 gallons at $3.77 is $2.72 more over 87 per fill. I am willing to pay that for an engine that is running measurably better.

I have also observed that intentionally overshooting the mix to higher octane doesn't yield any better results.

I do notice if I undershoot though. That causes hesitation and the transmission to get a lil bit confused.

My theory is that my commute is basically 55mph two lane highway with rolling hills. The higher octane helps reduce lugging and allows the transmission to stay in gear while climbing hills.

The more expensive fuel gets, the higher octane makes more sense. The price difference is usually fixed. $0.70 in my area. The fuel economy benefit is also fixed. As prices go up, that 19.7% difference will shrink. 93 @ $7.70 / 87 @ $7.00 is the break-even point.

On my truck i have tested all of the octanes, multiple tanks. I get exactly ZERO difference inoctane, not even a single tenth. But acceleration and passing power is notably improved
