I got 52.8 over 115 miles of ride share driving without even trying. Highway driving kills your averages.

I'm in Canada, so I'm converting kilometers and liters to U.S. measurements for most of the readers here. I think that the truck is pretty well past its break-in period now. I now have 5100mi on the odo, and I'm still on the factory oil and the factory Michelin Primacy tires. I use nothing but Costco 87-octane fuel. The weather swings are pretty wild in March around here, but averages about 40F. I'm getting 54mpg driving like a granny and doing some simple hi-miler tricks like extended slowdown coming to a red light and watching the brake coach to recover 100% energy when braking, with about 50lbs in the bed. If I'm on the highway I keep it to about 65mph max. I'm usually at about 45% electric. The dash says 511 miles to empty after the last fillup 50mi ago, so assuming its relatively accurate, its estimating about 560mi to empty.
Where in the Toronto area are you?

We live in Utah with it's bitter cold winters getting down to like 10 degrees. Despite that, our maverick is averaging 41.8 mpg over the course of 9,000 miles. I can guarantee you that average will increase to the 42s or 43s this summer.

I will say, and others have reported this as well, the hybrid fuel economy seems to improve after the break-in period, at around 2-4k miles, a lot of us started to see noticable fuel economy gains. My tips are to drive as smoothly as possible, brake softer, maybe twenty or thirty feet sooner than you do in a gas only car. If the light in front of you is red, just take your foot off the case from a tenth of a mile away and coast to it rather than speeding right up to it. Apply the throttle gently. Just ease into everything while still driving in a safe manner. If there's a car stopped in front of you or something, of course brake as hard as you have to.

But just be gentle, be smooth. Owning a hybrid for the first time, I've almost made it a game to see how smoothly I can accelerate and come to a stop, and it's definitely made an improvement with our fuel economy.

I have been getting a reliable 40mpg on my 15 mile commute in the morning on the freeway, and about 51 on the way home (mostly downhill in that direction.)

I'm always in Eco mode and always use the EV coach.
So I'm curious, assuming it's a feature on all maverick hybrids, is the EV coach just the displaying reporting how efficient your braking is, the one that says X amount of energy returned, or is there more to it? Because if there is, I haven't even been using it to its fullest and would like to learn how to turn that on.

EV Coach is one of the main display modes you can select. It shows a horizontal bar that tells you if you are charging, electric or hybrid while moving. It lets you adjust your driving to stay electric as long as possible.

The brake efficiency thing is separate. I don't remember what it's called, but I know you can turn it off.

I've broken 50. I'm averaging 44. So take your foot off the gas pedal. And this is on paper.

A LOT of the MPGs is how/where you drive. The difference between 75mph and 65mph is probably 3-5MPG. I get 3MPG better than my wife in Mav and Odyssey driving the same routes.

Watch traffic to do everything you can to avoid braking (safely)- coast instead of staying on the gas to have to slam on the brakes then accelerate again. Go easier on the acceleration but then use as much electric as possible.

We're averaging 40.2mpg since April 2023.

In my new maverick lariat hybrid at the 1000 mile mark with a mixture of city and highway driving I’m getting about 35mpg. I’ve had some folks report on YouTube and chat rooms crazy numbers like 45mpg etc. am I missing something? Does my driving generally suck or are there better ways to improve fuel economy? :)
I turned off the daytime driving lights which really changed my mpg. On the freeway I use sport, regular city I use normel. 2 very cold winters and 14000 plus miles and 13 months ownership my average is about 47 mpg and some change

Approaching 5K and so far I am averaging over 40. When I am on the highway I notice the biggest reduction in MPG when I get above 65. I try to use the EV coach to help me stay where I need to be within reason considering traffic around me

My commute to work is around 42 miles round trip on a 75mph freeway and my average fuel economy is 36.1 mpg. ... Maybe the reviewers just baby their trucks and only drive them around town.
According to the state code of Virginia:
A person is guilty of misdemeanor reckless driving who drives a motor vehicle on the highways in the Commonwealth (i) at a speed of 20 miles per hour or more in excess of the applicable maximum speed limit or (ii) in excess of 85 miles per hour regardless of the applicable maximum speed limit.

Since in my county and neighboring counties the maximum speed limit is 55 MPH, I don't drive 75 MPH. Ever. I am not babying my truck, I am following the law,. Speeding tickets are a major source of income for the state and local governments. I mostly drive the speed limit, and I have averaged 44 MPG over the past 4K miles.

The Ford Maverick, while shapely and lovely in my eyes, has the aerodynamics of a brick. That is why I can easily get in and out of it without banging my head on the roof pillar. But it takes a lot more gas to go 75 MPH instead of 55 MPH.

Hand calculated I was getting 44 MPG each day on my 60 mile daily commute. That is mostly country back roads doing around 70MPH.

I drove 8 miles today said 68 mpg return trip 47 mpg. You gotta smoke dope and roll slow. And don't smoke any brake pad.
