I'll be laughed off the site for saying this. But don't forget to ask the dealer's finance guy what he can do for you.
When I bought my '06 Miata, it was Saturday afternoon.

They panicked when I told them I'd be back on Monday, as the credit union was closed!

They begged me to stay while they pulled their rate sheets.

As it turned out, US Bank was .1% below the credit union!

I said I'd take it, but then they pulled out that sheet with the mileage/days costs if it didn't go through.

Me: not going to happen!

But . . . you're a shoe in! (well over 800 credit score)

Me: nope. If you're that confident, do it without this.

And they did.

Fore those unfamiliar, the dealer actually writes the initial paper itself, and then sells its. It used to be common for there to be a significant difference between their rate, say 20%, and the bank rate, say 10%. So the dealer pocketed the difference within a couple of days of the transaction!

Sometimes, they'd write the paper and then shop it, taking the best (for the dealer of course) offer.

I got 6% rate which I thought was great compared to how everything is nowadays. But I did ask the finance guy about extended warranty and I was able to get it below their cost actually. That was after I asked of course. Before I asked it was going to be an extra $2500 🤯 so no it doesn't hurt to ask at all

Did you get an ESP? What did you end up paying for it? I hope you compared it to Granger’s published prices online. Hard to believe they gave you more than $2500 back just for asking.

I suggest comparing the exact ESP plan you purchased against Granger. ESPs are fully refundable so if you paid more you can get your money back and purchase through Granger.

I ended up paying $36502 for a 2025 XLT FX4 Ecoboost luxury package in Eruption Green with 2k towing. I did compare it to Granger and it was actually cheaper than Granger. He had a coupon for $500 off their cost and he used it. So I received 10 year 100k miles bumper to bumper and drivetrain for $2k

Yup, Navy Fed here (have to be service or veteran though).

I went in with the loan check at 4.49% and their sales guy asked if we had payment. I told him yes, unless Ford could do better, he didn't even bother asking the finance guy.

Exactly this. They actually got me a better rate than my credit union last time!

My credit came back as a 797, I have a penfed account (with 3 paid off auto loans in the last few years thru them), I just applied and was "pre-approved" for my 25 Maverick with $10k down, and came back denied when being finalized. I have zero credit card debt, zero late/missed payments in the last 10 years, $229k income, $1800 mortgage, a 0% interest loan on another car with a $900 payment that is 1/3 paid off and zero bills besides those and the usual power/phone bills. I have bought and paid off 11/12 auto loans in the last 6 years (different lenders). I should be their ideal applicant and they basically told me to kick rocks. Insane. Really sucks because Ford rates are way higher. I might just pay cash now, but didn't want to if I could get 5%

I would question them for denial. There might be something on one of your credit reports that is inaccurate. You can pull FREE credit reports from each of the three nationwide credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion) once every 12 months (I personally stagger them apart 3 -6 months apart)

I would, but Penfed does not do recons. They’re actually very weird because you have to know exactly how much you’re asking for minus the down payment and you only get one shot. Most banks you can just put more money down or whatever Penfed makes you come up with that decision and then locks you into that. Still you would think with $10,000 down on a $40,000 car, It would be a no-brainer. There’s nothing on my credit reports. I pulled them about two weeks ago in anticipation of trying to get this loan. The funny thing is they approved me for my ZO6 with almost nothing down. I ended up paying it off in a year, which was supposed to be a six year loan. And now I get denied for a $30,000 loan.

The Cost of Interest paid kills the Entry Value of The Maverick in my Opinion. My Credit Union is 5.25% regardless of Credit on New. I can Get 5% from other sources but it's not advantageous to me to Finance (Even doing a Home owners loan or personal loan). if I could get a Buy Down from the Dealers F&I dept. in the 2.5 - 3.0% I would be interested.

Personally, I look at the cost to borrow on something that looses value over time
Based on a Car Loan of $ 30,000.00 at 5% Interest rate and financed for the number of years on the left
"TOTAL" INTEREST PAID at 5% Interest Rate ($ 30K loan)

2 years $ 1,587.40

3 years $ 2,368.57

4 years $ 3,162.18

5 years $ 3,968.22

I have other sources of paying With no loan and unless something changes will go that route. have about 4 - 6 weeks before my 25 hits the Dealers lot tomake final decisions.

Something I’ve been doing the last 6 months is churning banking bonuses using my paycheck opening new banks and closing them after. Got like free 2k for doing nothing but open close
Kinda fun. Free income for those w free time
Pays for that interest loan

said like an old man..."I remember back in '22 when I bought my hybrid and got 0.9%"
ahhh,those were the days

Did a search and didn't find much recent info, with the recent rate cuts what are the best rates people are getting these days for a Mav?

Best I have found is either PenFed which is about 5.79% @ 60 months and LOC which offers 4.99% but waiting to see what I qualify for.
