Best $28 Mod? (uber quick "how-to")
Sponsored
It is a great mod. I did not think I would care for it, but it is very useful.
Agree, it's great for them at least. Anything that deletes function (tailgate tie down) is out for me. I use that tie down to strap down my paddleboard. Does anyone actually have fun with a truck, or is it all just dump runs? I can fit a ton of trash in my old Subie, didn't need a pickup bed for that.Best $28 Mod? (uber quick "how-to")
But you don’t have to eliminate that tailgate tiedown.Agree, it's great for them at least. Anything that deletes function (tailgate tie down) is out for me. One tailgate tie down gone... And suddenly you can't have fun with the truck? I didn't blink at removing a tailgate tie down. I don't tie down to objects that can move (like a tailgate). I have a rack and put the kayak on that, strapped down to rack, tow hook in front, and tow hitch in back.Agree, it's great for them at least. Good call on the D ring, but looks like I'm not compatible with it unless I cut the tailgate liner. Not sure where the D ring would go on the side. With the tailgate cable and adding the damper and D ring, I'd think it would be quite cluttered in there. I already notice the cable getting caught up sometimes. But you don’t have to eliminate that tailgate tiedown.
Yep, you have to remove the OEM “bottle opener” tie down on that side when you install the tailgate assist, because it interferes with its operation.
But you can easily just replace it with a flat tie-down ring, either on the top or side of the tailgate.
Like one of these…

Yes you're activity is hereby qualified!“Does anyone actually have fun with a truck, or is it all just dump runs?” - wonder if using the truck bed with a hooker qualifies as having fun?
And I can use my bed chubby, I mean cubby for “supplies”.Yes you're activity is hereby qualified! This swing is compatible, it's aftermarket. However, the arch frame to hang it is an official Ford accessory. The frame uses the existing upper d-rings in the bed corners to mount, as long as you have the Lariat or Lux package. An XL would need to add 2 d-rings. Still works with the hard folding tonneau too!
Finally someone solving real world issues, instead of joining AARP and installing tailgate assists on a trucklet....
