I've been using a piece of 2x6 in the bed Divider slot. I find it really useful for groceries and bags full of stuff, but found that they would still slide left and right if not tied down. So I just built this little adjustable piece to keep things from sliding. Just 2x6 and an angle bracket, sprayed with black Plastidip. When not in use, I just keep it pushed against one side of the bed.

Yup, I just use a cut to fit 2x10. Works perfectfor my use, easily removable if needed. Cost me only 10.00 with tax at HD.

Nice work and it looks great.

I believe a 2 by will nest in the groves in the bottom of the bed. A couple of washers at the top of the board could lower it a bit so it could catch those groves.

I hadn't really considered that the 2x6 wouldn't touch the bed. I didn't remember that the horizontal piece is raised when resting in those side slots, but it actually works out. I left some breathing room in the bracket part, to not scratch the 2x6 and the fact that the new piece pivots down a bit, actually keeps it in place.

Very clever! A nice budget mod, too.

I think the good idea would be, in addition to this awesome setup, the devider (smaller 2x6) to be able to slide left and right with some kind of locking mechanism.

Dead simple, practical, easy to DIY, perfect. could you tell us the exact length of cut and the size of the bracket plz?

It actually stays in place really well. With the rubber coating on the angle bracket, any sideways pressure put on the smaller 2x6 causes it to twist, just a bit, and it kinda self locks. If that makes sense. I left a little wiggle room when I attached the bracket, about 1/16" wider than the 2x6. But you could tighten that up. I also considered adding some sort of weatherstripping to the bracket area, to make it more of a pressure fit situation but just wanted to keep things simple.

Yup, actually yes, make that small board little tight, and can be moved anywhere, great idea, tnx.

2x6 is cut at 14 3/8". I used a 5" angle bracket, just make sure it has enough holes on top to get 2 screws into the wood once it's offset. I left a 1 5/8" gap when attaching the bracket. Just note that these are dims for a drop in bedliner.
