Bed Cubby 12v "Do Over"

Back in July, I tapped into the Flexbed for 12 volt and USB/USB-C connections nested inside the passenger side bed cubby. I decided to move the power point onto the cubby cover for easier access.

I see you have a bed liner, do you ever haul anything damp and/or dirty? Like bark or pea gravel? If you do, what do you do for instances like that? I really like the idea of having the ports in the bed like that, but worry about damage from loads like that.
I have to decide where I am going to put my ports, as I do not have the bed storage either with my XL on order.

Sure, over the years I've hauled stone, mulch, concrete blocks, firewood, sand, and gravel. Tarps can be cheap bed savers, but drop-in or spray-in liners are worthwhile (in my opinion).

You make some good points about possible damage.

I placed my 12 volt/USB ports on the inside of my added on LH cubby in order to still have the storage space unencumbered.

If placed on the outside cover it would make it difficult to remove the cover and the protrusion of the plugs with their wires would interfere with storage.

I’m sorry, I must not have been clear. I meant damage to the switch and power ports from the gravel and such.

Looks good, but im curious why you didnt just put your ports in the 12v power point covers. All it took on mine was a couple minutes with a pair of wire dikes and step drill bit. I have a single 12v socket on the driver side for my fridge and a lighted power switch for my blue lights in the topper and cubbies.

My cubbies are always full of ratchet straps, paracord, tape measure and multi screw driver, and tennis balls for Batman and Harvey Dent. I couldnt sacrifice that usable storage space. Since it looks like you also want USB ports you could just keep a usb plug-in job handy or even a splitter type for fridge and phone.

I might be confusing myself, but where did you get the 12v from? The flex port at the end of the bed or run a new power line from the cab/battery, back?

are the flex ports that “are there,” (hidden but usable,) powerful enough to supply power to various ports/devices needing power like air pumps, etc?

They are both on the same 20amp fuze!

Mostly used for camping - air pump, cooler, and charging up personal electronics (USB & USB-C).

I keep a tote with my ratchet straps, recovery rope, ball mounts, and LED flares. Tools are under rear seat. Cubby storage is just bonus space.

Yeah my fridge takes up enough of my bed space that I keep it otherwise open for the dogs. Back seat stays open for laundry, water jugs, and passengers. I use the straps probably once a week so they stay handy in the cubby.
