12v Charger Panel Mod for Bed Cubby

I wanted to add one of those little charging blocks that have the 12 V cigarette lighter plug as well as a couple of USB charging ports. I didn’t want to cut up the factory panel so I used a piece of material that is used for machine guarding. It is thin aluminum on two sides with a plastic core sandwich in between. Very easy to machine.

This really makes me wonder about taking the floor out of that cubby, improving the seal on the trap door, and fitting an air compressor in there

Personally, I would have went with solid 3/8” plate to handle the full 60 lb/ft of torque that your 1/2” bolts are rated for.

It's called Dibond but like most industrial products there are probably other names it goes by.
It can usually be had from better stocked art and picture framing stores, and I've gotten it from sign shops, they almost always seem to have small off-cuts for projects like this.

Coming here to see other’s projects is always made better when details are shared, like the material used on a fabrication like this one. The OP shared it, I’ve ordered it, and now I’m that much closer to a cool project finish.
