Is this indicative of anything to do with cabin light and radio screen failures. With engine running, measured at the under hood battery jumper points, I am reading 14.9 VDC. That seems fine. With engine off for an hour, after a long drive, I am measuring 11.9 VDC. That seems low. Its a lariat hybrid 2004 delivered in Nov of 2023, so only 18 months old. What is causing the battery not to take a full charge. 2.2VDC/cell on a lead acid battery should measure 13.2 VDC, or at least close to that.

It is low - you probably have 2 bad cells at this point.
Unless your battery has managed to become equally bad across all the cells.
Battery Saver function for sure has been enabled - so the lights.
Radio screen issue - if truck is on, then not possible.

When it drops below 11.8 - you are on your way to 3 bad cells - and a warranty replacement battery. It has to test bad enough to qualify. It may or may not right now. If you have a good dealer, they'll test at least.

Ford's programming decision is causing the undercharging.
Ford's choice of cheap battery is allowing it to die sooner.

Now - go scan over the recent threads - shoot just page 1 at least - you'll find probably 4 threads with more info on the topic to catchup on everything you've missed for a long time.

At 11.9V after the surface charge bleeds off, you have a seriously-sulfated battery. The battery is covered under the 3/36 bumper-to-bumper warranty, so drop in to the dealer for a new one for free. I'm on my 3rd one at this point in my 23. I'm still waiting for the fix for the BMS faulty programming that causes this problem, which was promised for delivery in January, and the March, and now who knows. Its a well-known fault for all Mavericks, Escapes, Bronco Sports, Hybrid F150s, Mach-Es and Corsairs since at least 2022 that is starting to be pretty costly for Ford not to release the fix for unknown reasons.

Is the real solution to just buy an Interstate or Deka flooded battery and drop it in, or will the programming destroy that one also?

I have a two-year-old 2023 hybrid still on its original lower capacity 390 CCA lead acid battery. Resting voltage after sitting for nearly a week just this past month at the airport is around 12.5v. It's got 8,000 miles on it.

Battery has been maintained using a Noco Genius 5 if sitting in my garage more than a few days.

It will eventually.

Even an AGM eventually.

Came with a Motorcraft AGM.
Resting voltage is 12.42 after sitting two days.
Never seen battery saver mode.

Yep - if the hybrids could just get their batteries moved under the hood and the BMS setup for same strategy the EB's got.

I just don’t get it. If I was ford I’d fix it.
Think about it, way too much bullshit running the battery down.
And limiting the charge level needs to be re thunk.

My I phone charges only to 80% because I simply set that as a limit.
WTH Ford ?
We should have user control over the 12 volt battery charge characteristics. And
AND we should be able to permanently turn off anything we want.
Like all those vampiric drains on the battery when the vehicles not in use.
The only thing that should be on with the vehicle off is remote start and the theft alarm system.
Ford should have set this up and allowed software to wake her up and do updates then put her back to sleep until we wake her up.
And !
That stupid stop start ! End that !
