Had the rear camera software updated today plus the driver's side seat belt recall done.

My initial observations:

The screen is definitely brighter. No question about it. Noticed it right off getting into the truck with the FORD emblem splash screen.

The brightness adjustment bar in settings still does not change after 50% but who cares really. I think some will actually find it too bright and will be turning it down now.

Apple CarPlay boots up much faster now and operates smoother as well. I would expect Android Auto to be the same. I hope so as I will soon be leaving the dark side and purchasing an Android phone.

Last, but not least, I used to notice slight little pauses in the back up camera more often than not, nothing major but it was there. After testing it a couple of dozen times the operation is much smoother.

Dealer recommended I start using a battery tender as the battery checked out good but at 50%.

All in all I would say, so far everything is much better than it was. The whole process took an hour and a half this morning and cost the dealer 2 cups of coffee and two nice fat jelly creme donuts.

Ohhhhh - I forgot about that positive to bringing it in compared to mobile tech.
The 2 guys in the van didn't bring any treats or such for me!

3rd week of dealership doing them remote, not sure why 2 guys needed still but the younger did mention they had a few issues getting the upgrade to go thru for some trucks, so perhaps still being trained, or other guy trained, no idea.
Took them about 60 min.

I just reviewed my before/after videos - I don't notice the brighter on software version screen I started with, or the video feed.
I almost thought I saw a tad better straight back imagine, but actually it's still skewed like it was.
Just a tad more right bumper seen than left.
These probably weren't the guys to correct that anyway, and I've never tested extreme if it affects the guidelines and position enough to matter.

If you frequently use FM - have you noticed if it's good about starting up on the preset screen?
Mine changed, except for once, always back to the Radio and Connect Phone 2 button screen, I have to tap Radio to see the info and presets.

I rarely listen to broadcast radio so I have no idea but will be glad to check that.

Had mine done today also. Never had a problem in the first place, one hour later on the road, Don’t notice any difference in anything. They still don’t have a clue when I talk about the transmission ‘lug’ oops sorry, shudder! Been to two dealers and they all say”WTF you talkin bout Willis! Clueless bastards!!!

I agree with the OP. the screen is brighter after the software update. I don't know why but now I can see the screen during daylight.
I noticed that you and O.P. Both have 21’s. curious if somewhere down the line they (Ford) did something we were never told about? No, not Ford. Never noticed a difference on my 24 eco after the update. Oh well, as long as all still works.

All that was stated was that the driver's side seat buckle did not meet regulatory requirements. It always seemed to latch fine. Thankfully never in an accident to test it.

Had to run some errands this afternoon with about maybe 6 times shutting off the truck and starting back up it went right to the preset screen every time. Same FM station too. Hope this helps.

Took my 02 XLT into dealer for the Seat belt rear monitor alert and also the Rear camera recall. Told me 4hours minimum and maybe longer for the Seat belt problem.
The rear camera they didnt give me a time but the last software update took all day! So waiting for the seat belt assembly and have to head back dealer. They better have Donuts!

RE: Dealer recommended you start using a battery tender = I wouldn't accept that BS. Tell them they need to install a new battery under warranty and adjust the battery monitor to maintain a higher state of charge.
