I realize what it is for, the new on the lot models affected by stop sale order.

Joke about seizure. But is it? The NTSB might flip, issue stern ruling. I not trust any.
I was not in shower when wrote this piece. Will remember your handle, skip it in future. You might be in the shower….

There are others here who express concerns over this recall vs what Ford telling dealers.
Your level of delusion is amazing. Good luck with it.

I agree with Glen Baker (see his earlier post). We have diagonal parking in this small rural town, and when I come out of the morning coffee shop, there is always a 1 ton dually or a 3/4 ton 4x4 with a flat bed bale hauler parked next to little old man Mav and you cannot see on coming street traffic until you are in the middle of the street, even if you turn around backward. The camera is really nice to check on coming traffic.

If I recall correctly Ford laid off a huge chunk of the software team back in the summer, so I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it's been outsourced.
And WE Have a Winner!!
Someone, finally hit the Nail on the Head!!
If one takes a LOOK at All (or at least a lot of them) the Issues at hand..
They are ALL software-related... ;)

P.S. Mine had happened only once.. (y)

I still cannot believe the seriousness of the rear camera recall. Remember when we taught people to use the mirrors to back up. Now they can't do it unless their camera is working
Those were the Days... :(

It doesn't matter if drivers were taught "Nine ways to Sunday" how to use mirrors and turning their head. While backing up.
The NHTSA mandate states the back-up camera it has to be working properly for a vehicle to be sold. 'PERIOD' Just as relevant as seat belt's, headlights, brakes, wipers...etc
Ford knew of the problem and chose to put it on a back burner, by some old senior engineer who didn't see it as a problem, because he always used his mirrors and turned around. 🤣🤣🤣
So, the NHTSA spanked Ford with a
$169,000,000.00 Fine and put a hold on the sale of all affected vehicles.

Soooo...question here. If you have a 2024 and take it in for any type of service....will they...or CAN they keep your truck until the camera recall is performed? Just curious. Thanks.
No.
I just had my 2024 in for an oil change. They don't have a fix yet for the backup camera. Yeah I got it back or there would have been a big problem.
They can't sell the new 2024s yet until they have a fix.
I don't get it though. They say sometimes it freezes. People can't see that the picture's not moving when you're using it?
I have never looked at it. I turned my head around like I've been doing for the past 50 years. It's not a problem.

People used to say the same thing about seat-belts, airbags and just about every safety feature in modern vehicles. Heck I bet someone thought it was pointless to put windshield wipers on cars at some point in history too. Just because you don't get it, doesn't mean it's not a safety feature that is important.

TBH I've never had a problem w/ the backup camera and I have a '22
I have an early hybrid 22 36k miles never a problem and a late hybrid XLT LUX 2,800 miles when placed into reverse (one and only time) screen froze with white background nothing else visible. Stayed that way switching drive to park reverse neutral several times was always same non view. Turned truck off then back on when placed in reverse camera worked fine. I could not say if it was the camera itself or a signal failure or a computer booboo or ???

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Requires that ALL vehicles under 10,000 pounds manufactured or sold in the United States have backup cameras.
IF you have feelings that strong against or think the mandate is just unnecessary please Contact NHTSA at 888-327-4236
If you need to contact NHTSA after hours, please message them and they will gladly respond by the close of the next business day. You can also reach them by calling our Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.

The real problem is it looks like it's working then freezes and you back into something because you didn't realize it froze. Yes you could use the mirror but if you think it's working odds are you are looking at it instead.

what really sucks is that they can't sell a new 24 because of the camera recall but they can sell a used one with the open unfixed recall. its the feds causing the problem as they call it a safety recall, its not, its just inconvient as if you want to see behind you just turn you head around like we used to do in years before the damn cameras

A couple of positives for me is my 24 is getting no miles on it and also no road salt. I won't be trusting that camera system even after the recall fix

I politely disagree with the recall haters. I'm a Boomer who remembers "back in the day" going back to the 1960s. But rear view cameras save several children and pets every year. You often didn't see kids "back in the day" with side mirrors or the rear mirror because of the huge rear blind spot.

Walk out right now and place a stuffed teddy bear a foot or two from the middle of your Maverick's bumper. Now get in and tell me if you see it from the side mirrors or the rear view mirror. I think not.

"Back in the day" is usually a BS argument. It ranks right up there with "Why isn't everyone else as safe a driver as me?".

Have we gotten an idea of WHEN the fix will be in? Mines sitting at the dealership waiting for me, but has to be fixed first....
