OCasey, put it on first, you might be surprised and maybe you won't have to drill any holes. The Pins you take out of the Weatherstrip aren't actually pushed into holes, they are pushed into Slots. AND the Bug Shield did not easily line up with the Slots.
I had to physically do some pushing in on the Bug Shield to get it to where it would come close to lining up with the Slots on the Hood and I could push my Push Pins through the Bug Shield and into the slot.. Once I had all 4 Push Pins installed I had about 1/2" of adjustment that I could slide the Bug Shield either Left or Right to make it line up perfectly on the Hood and over the Fenders.
One other thing too, the Installation Kit comes with 4 Clear Rubber Bump Stops that are used to prevent any flexing of the Bug Shield actually onto the Hood to prevent paint damage to the hood.
The Instructions say to stick the Bump Stops onto the Hood. I chose to stick them onto the underside of the Bug Shield as I wanted to be sure that if I ever had to remove them, I wouldn't have to pry them off the painted Hood..
Did you just use generic/universal car bumper fastener rivets? Also I would like to see how you installed the clear rubber bump stops. Any pics? Pls and thank you. How is it holding up by the way? I just ordered one and it's on the way.

Needed to drill four holes, used my own rivets, and a hammer. The problems were expected per comments on this forum, so I installed PPF at the tip of the hood before wrestling with the bug deflector.

I just recieved a new AVS bugshield. I waited about 6 weeks for the new shipment and none of the holes lined up. They wanted me to pay return shipping which I wouldnt agree too. They had me cut it in half and send them pictures of it. It doesnt seem like they want too send me a new good one, just refund my payment. Hopefully I hear from them today.

I received one just recently, the 2 center holes didn't line up, I had to drill a new hole in the plastic and use a retainer clip for a kit off Amazon. I used the #A16 one in this kit. This AVS Bugdeflector also came with 4 silicon bumps to stick on the good to prevent the plastic from hitting the hood at higher speeds. I put the 2 center ones on the hood and the 2 outter ones reversed on the bug delfector.

I got one about 6 months ago or so and it didn’t line up. They said they were redesigning it and sent me a new one a few weeks later. Everything lined up perfectly and the original retainer clips worked fine. Some places still must be shipping old stock best I can tell.

Just a few notes on install from my recollection (I installed mine over a year ago):

1. Put the rubber bumper sticker things on the backside of bug deflector, not your hood
2. You might have to adjust your hood springs things if the bug deflector deforms your hood on close (do them in quarter increments)...hood should close without bending on the sides and the bug deflector should not move when hood is closed
3. If youre concerned about the loose seals, you can use double sided tape to stick it where the clips would have been.
4. AVS sticker eventually will fall off from the sun, mine lasted a year and I rarely go anywhere.

I have a stack of them in the garage... I haven't had a chance to check the newest one they've sent.

I just drilled a new hole.

I also added my own rubber bumpers.

Easy peezy lemon squeezy.

If you maneuver it around a bit, and push inward, two of the holes will align. It's the other two, which need to be drilled. - Apparently, from what I've seen, the EGR units has the same exact issue, so somewhere some faulty information was shared among all of them.

I just marked the holes, and used a drill bit in my power screw driver, which turns nice and slow, to made two new holes 3/8-1/2 an inch from the originals in the deflector. Installed and works fine afterwards, with no ill effects. Really just an inconvenience, and 10 minutes of time, but should protect the hood and leading top edge of the fenders better than the stick-on unit. (Also sits higher, which should help the windshield a bit).

My mav comes next month. Confused about the factory rubber seal. The bug deflector goes underneath it? You remove ALL of the factory clips on rubber seal? Or just some? What holds factory rubber seal on then?

TBH, it's pretty crappy they don't include adhesive to put the sections you remove back in place against the deflector. I used double sided 3M exterior tape and added something to keep it snug myself. You do not remove all clips, only 4.

But yes, the deflector goes underneath the rubber seal. It's a very simple installation. Just be prepared to add the adhesive. I also added a 2nd seal to the rubber seal closest to the windshield. Some people have used some pretty thick stuff and posted about it but I felt it would not compress properly where it needed to, so I just added basically the same thing that is already used. The seal on the hood closest towards the windshield was not that great to begin with.

Having the same issue the holes are not drilled in the correct area to use the factory rubber mounting holes - at least 6mm off In the center area You cannot even see the holes to line up. The only way to get it to work would be to frill it out, I’m beyond impressed with this item.

I drilled all four holes and nailed down the fasteners. I emailed the company, waited for a week and called to follow up. A replacement was delivered within a week after the call.

How did you stop the drill from slipping? I tried to drill new holes but the drill bit just slid all over the place. I ended up using double sided tape instead. It's been probably 8 months and no issues yet
