My truck is in the recall! 🥺🥺 Arrived at the dealership last friday. I was supposed to get it yesterday but because of the recall, the dealer can't deliver it to me. They have to do the inspection and she said it would be by the beginning of january. 🙄 I'm glad that my truck is at the dealership but it's a little frustrating to know that I can't have it! I just hope that they don't find a hole because I'm pretty sure they won't have the piece to make the repair..! 😬

Been there done that, water in fuel system is not compatible ………
But waiting till Jan 28 could mean a considerable number of trucks
in the garage. And Oh by the way are there enough extra fuel tanks
available…………

Ask the dealer to put a band aide on the holes, so you can take delivery …. Also better get a written contractual price before they deliver it.

Wow almost the same build also, mine is an XLT Hybrid with the Lux Package, Co-Pilot 360 with the All Weather Floor Mats in the Hot Pepper Red. Ordered 7/2/21, confirmed later that day, got 12/20/21 build date back in early November, went In Production yesterday afternoon. Hoping for delivery mid-late January.
Nice! We skipped the 360 Co-Pilot because a vehicle doing its own thing feels creepy. But something tells me that, between the holidays and all the shortages and shipping issues, we'll see our truck in February. But holler when you get your window sticker. I hope to see mine soon.

I have to weigh in...Our company has had large frame machinery sent out for painting or powder coated. Occasionally they come back with these rubber plugs (shaped very much like those foam ear noise protectors) still stuffed in the threaded holes. This is the proper way to protect those threads! It's wrong to go chase those holes with a drill, you'll likely defeat the dunk phosphate coating to prevent rusting or mess up the threads. Tell manufacturing to do the job correctly! I'm not even sure I'd recommend a tap thread chaser as they would probably cross thread the holes!
That is what I am wondering. Why are they drilling in the first place? This is what people should be complaining about, not that Ford found it and it fixing the tanks. The bed is nicely primed, painted and the coated, then they drill out a hole that could expose bare metal? Hope there is something else to this story.

The company that installed the spray-in liner wasn't drilling additional holes, but rather were clearing out the drain holes that were already put in by Ford at the factory. The problem is that they were clearing them out using a method that isn't approved and shouldn't have been used. Poor quality control on the company doing the work and the employees obviously not being supervised and checked properly.

They will have to put some JB weld on the hole(s) until they can get replacement tanks?

Figured it was cleaning out holes. But if it can put a hole in the tank, then one would have to assume it is a drill bit. And if it goes in at an angle, it could cut through everything and get to bare metal of the bed. At least that is what it would seem to me.

I'm in Quebec (Canada) and it's illegal here to put markup on cars! 😉 So I know it won't be a problem! And I have all the paperworks so I'm good! Just wish I had the car for Christmas!

8 ounces of "Hole Remover" added to the tank should take care of it 👍

It wasn't done on the assembly line since the spray-in liner is done off site, and was when they were cleaning out the drain holes in the bed of the spray-in liner material.
Ford also owns the spray in liner company

Why do you believe aftermarket SIBL companies couldn't cause the same issue?

For me I am going with the hard drop-in bedliner as it looks great and I loved the one I had on my 1998 Ford Ranger.
