Hi all,
When your Maverick turns itself off at a light do you hear coolant being sloshed around? I only ask because I recently went through multiple months of trying to get Ford to even identify that I had a slipping transmission. They ended up replacing said transmission, but I noticed after getting it back that for the first week when it would turn itself off, I would hear Coolant circulating around the system. That has since ceased to occure. I've had to fill the coolant reservoir a couple of times because it has emptied the bottle. My concern is that what was causing my tranmission issue wasn't just a bad transmission but instead issues with the coolant system due to the fact it would only noticably slip after sitting for a awhile with the engine stopped. I also noticed that I could clearly hear the circulating fluid in our rental Malibu. This is just more of a question than anything else. Can you hear the coolant system pumping fluid around in your Maverick? Thanks for reading and sorry for the long post.

Transmission and cooling systems are two completely separate systems. The sloshing sound was likely air in the cooling system after the transmission repair that was eventually purged and caused you to have to add coolant. Don't overthink this.

Coolant flow should stop when the engine turns off, some cars have an extra small pump just for the turbo. I always hit the button to stop this ridiculous business anyway.

From what I understand, there is a separate coolant pump that circulates the coolant while the engine is stopped.

My EB makes a bit of bubbling sounds a little after shutting down the engine with the start button and after having driven at least 15 minutes. No sloshing during auto start/stop nor have I lost any coolant. Currently sitting at 14,000 km / 8700 mi.

I guess I'm happy. EB here and I don't hear anything when it stops. Had a MINI before and am used to the start/stop. Just a fun fact, if you turn the wheel a bit when stopped the engine will restart.
