My mechanic friend has a battery function tester that looks at more than just voltage and the dealers should also have them. You may have to push them to test it in front of you and/or show you the printout.

Friends with Hondas and Acuras have gone through multiple batteries in the first few years of operation.

Most cars shut down apps and functions over a period of time after you turn off the vehicle to preserve data but if they take too long or fail to shut some things off you will have drain.

People are complaining that the start/stop has been disabled? Funny, I wish mine would stop working haha.

Man, I need you to convince my service manager to do the same. What's your number? 😂
It's a warranty item

I think my wife just ran into this on our Maverick we got friday. FWD XLT Gas engine. She had to put the truck in park and restart at a stoplight. Is this what this thread is about?

Mine has stopped working too and I thought it was due to the hardwired dash cam. I have it set to turn off when the voltage drops below 12.4v, but the auto start/stop feature still doesn't work after my 45 minute highway commute, so maybe something is up with the battery?
Hi there. Can you send us a DM with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into this for you.

Update - @ Dealer for a battery check and it's below specs. A replacement is being installed -
The issue here is the BMS (Battery Management Sensor/system). It is the big black thing on the end of the negative battery cable by the terminal. It determines whether the auto / start stop gets permanently disabled or not. It is a feature actually in this case because it does when the battery voltage reads too low so the system won't inadvertently cut the engine then not be able to crank it over again. Just keep in mind recharging or replacing the battery won't re-enable the auto / start stop, the BMS system also needs to be reset afterwards. Dealer should know what they are doing but if for some reason they don't tell them to also reset that as part of the warranty work. Also as an aside if you have forscan it can also reset the BMS.

The other way to reset the BMS if still need to do so afterwards without using Forscan. This works on other Ford trucks like F-150s, no idea if it will work on a Maverick or not.

How to reset your BMS:
Procedure must be carried out within 10 seconds:
  1. Switch ignition on (engine off)
  2. Pull and release high beam 5 times.
  3. Press and release brake pedal 3 times.
  4. If successful the battery light will flash 3 times within the next 15 seconds 5. BMS reset completed.

Charge the battery. The stero modem crap drains the battery below a certain amount and the alternator isn't chargeing it enough they will tell you to just drive more. Basicly a load of bull shit form the dealer same exact problem. Alternator tests fine 14.7 volt battery tests fine has capacity... won't charge it up no matter how long you drive always drains down over and over agian. Its a Very frustrating truck

They handed me a piece of paper saying it's known that the battery is drained don't use third party apps only the ford one. I didn't even know they had a third party app.... blame an app is what they say... it's bull crap it's most likely software problem or hardware or both

Been in multiple times same.problem it won't get fixed they just charge it and send it down the road
I have seen that app thing in other posts. Never did understand it.

Wow you would think it would know this when the fault is corrected. Another money maker from the dealer?

It supposedly does auto-learn on its own but takes something like 8-hours of sitting off to do so.

Thank you! I will try this tomorrow, my start/stop has not work for over a week.
