Yeah the hate for start-stop kinda puzzles me. I never had an ICE car with that system, but I love how the hybrid isn't wasting fuel by idling all the time at lights or in traffic

Maybe the system doesn't work so well on the EcoBoost and that's why ppl hate it 🤷🏻
My 2016 audi has an amazing start stop system. The 25 mav only works while in drive and honestly that bugs me. But, I do appreciate not wasting gas at a stop light.

I have to believe that I am not the only one happy to see this ridiculous "feature" repealed going forward. The A.S.S. on my Maverick quit working months ago. Most likely a combination of the months long cold weather and a battery slowly dying into oblivion.
Good bye to the Golf Cart Tech!

Some of the dislike, IMO, is simply because it's a government mandate. Yeah, the idea was to improve fuel efficiency and help the enviroment. OK, those are decent goals. But, couldn't you accomplish the same thing by limiting the vehicles top speed? Most interstate speed limits are 70. So why can certain vehicles go over 100?
For me whether true or not it can't be good for the engine or the starter. I'm old school and I like gas engines that don't start and stop dozens of times on a local shopping trip. I'll pay for the gas to keep the engine running. For me it has noting to do with mandates or saving the polar bears, I just don't like it. I also think the people that want it should have it as an option.

starters are not a $50/100 item anymore. my friends Chevy cost $1500 4 years old.
you can choose the option without cost by pressing the button or buy a $99 eliminator.

I never understood why people dislike this feature.
As an old guy, having an engine quit when you stop meant you had a problem. I also don’t like that I cannot power brake to pull out in traffic

Especially when it stopped without a cough or a sputter...that meant real trouble. I too don't like these stop/start systems. The Maverick is the first vehicle I've owned that does this. Not a fan.

I have 2 cars with it and hit the defeat button as soon as I get in the car. It can be abrupt if you are stopped and engine is off and you go too fast from break to gas in traffic for example. You end up on the gas before the engine starts, and when it does start, it is then very abrupt and assuredly not good for the drivetrain. Savings in fuel is largely negligible and not even measurable based on my experience when first using it.. The folks who pushed for this should give up a home or two, the yacht, and drive a hybrid, and we would make out much better. Leave the peasants alone and practice what they preach.

The one thing it does do is make owners eventually buy new batteries or starters, or both. The most nagging issue is drivers who don’t want ASS have to switch it off each time get in, start their vehicles. Of course there are kits to nullify this function, but an added expense here.
It is annoying that EB drivers have to hit the ASS button each drive and hybrids have to hit the mode button 4 times for ECO, when both could be easily fixed via software option.
(and since I currently have a bad TPMS, I have to hit OK first, then 4x mode, or 5x mode to get there) -- still not bad if that's a "big" complaint I have about my Mav.

What is the bad TPMS showing up as on your display?
Does it look like any of my pictures?
Check out the odometer.

Two bad TPMS AT ONCE... I don't think so. You can clearly see from the speedometer, the truck was moving. Did both batteries go bad at the same time???🙄 I don't think so. Logically it didn't make sense.

Then a miracle happens 🙏
A few miles later, they BOTH start working.

That tells me it's not the TPMS sensor.
I have more pictures that show my front losing connection.

Mine is just one tire that never connects - I'm thinking battery died. Started a couple months ago. PSI fine all around. I won't touch it (spend $) until tires get replaced in a couple more years.

In my Ecoboost I’m hauling ass down the road
Keeping up with traffic.
Light changes,
I stop,
Engine shuts down,
It takes a good minute for my turbo to spin down from 10, 20 or 40,000 Rpm.
The instant my engine shuts down oil pressure drops to nothing and what oil is in there gets superheated. Full synthetic does not negate this.
Depriving my turbo of its essential cooling liquid Is the absolute Stupidest thing I’ve ever seen.

I religiously turn it off during preflight.

Ever seen a tractor trailer rig bellowing tons of smoke ?
The often young inexperienced driver parked, shut down the engine and did not wait the one full minute for the turbo to spin down with oil pressure and cool from a nearly red hot normal running condition.

So do you pull back on the control column to gain altitude once you hit Vr? ;)
