I'm looking for a new car on a low budget. I've got a 16 yo Subaru. I don't need a truck, but I would not be averse to one. I've looked at the RAV4, the Cross, the Tacoma, the Corolla, some Hyundai's, Kia's, Subaru's and the Maverick. I'll tell you the Maverick had the nicest comfort for me. In some of these cars / trucks you can hardly move in the driver's seat and your legs hit the center plastic. The Maverick also impressed me with less clutter under the hood. But I read there may be issues with the tranny with the Maverick.

I'm old, health is poor and don't drive much. Maybe 4K miles a year to go to the store, etc. I'm looking for the base model, no / low frills car / truck just for local transportation. The other thing that turned me off with the Maverick was the salesman told me the Maverick just went up $3,000 in price when I thought about ordering one for $25,000.

Are you happy with your Maverick? Would you buy it again? What sort of problems have you had with it?

Love My Maverick!
I am returning mine to 100% stock. Only issue I have had/am having is a strange issue where it seems like the turbo is fighting restriction of some sort, like a clogged cat or maybe just a failing turbo. Changed the Bypass valve, and the wastegate actuator. Under boost it still chuffs air from the bypass valse. No boost leaks, no codes, no pending codes. On the Dyno, under boost the turbo gets glowing hot. (I know turbos get hot, but it shouldn't be working hard enough to be cherry red. Strange issue. Tuner said everything looks fine on his end but he can see/hear it as well. He has tuned 8 other Mavericks..... So I have no clue except wait for a failure and take it in to the Dealer.

Started saving up for about the next 6 months, and I will pay cash for 25 MY hybrid. My commute has gotten shorter and I'm doing much more in town driving. Hybrid would better suit the need anyway.

Love the platform, useability, looks and fuel mileage.

I'm very happy w/ mine and, yes, if a tree fell on it right now I'd replace it w/ another; either another Lariat or a Lobo.

I have the XLT Hybrid. Looked at a XL and went with the XLT just because the price was about 2k more when I looked and I got a few things I wanted.

That being said, I truly love it. It’s an impressive design. I wish more companies would take a more practice approach. I have a 69k Subaru ascent that is fully loaded. It drives better and is more comfortable as in plush seats and creature comforts in general. And yet for some reason I always take my Maverick.

I am also the target market for Slate, which is even more stripped down. Just can’t get a 2 row vehicle with them and a truck bed. Which is why the Maverick fit my mark so well.

I will say it also holds its value really well. If your only driving 4k miles a year, if you went to sell it a few years later, you might get almost what you paid for it. Some folks have some theirs with 1-2k of the originally purchase 2-3 years later.

The Maverick is a nice little truck, if you must have have truck. If you don't, I think you can get a nicer car for the same money, but if you like it go for it.

I'm happy with the functionality, ride, fuel economy, and the design and controls of the interior (pre-2025 model). Fit and finish could be better for the price, but I doubt we'll see any changes in that regard until a there is a redesign (like 2028). Would I buy it again if it was totalled in a crash or stolen? Right now, yes because I need a truck. If I didn't need a truck, no.

I'm happy and would buy again with mine I don't care for the Fuel Gauge and Tachometer!! And the only problem I have is when it's under 40 degrees outside and has the clicking noise in the passenger side windshield area which I hear from guys on here that is the windshield alignment pins!! I can haul 30 1.5 cubic feet bags of mulch in the bed and the payload rating is 1,491 lbs. and it hauls ass in the 1/4 mile with the 2.0 EB engine in it!! I'm Entry 61 on the timeslip!!

I would buy another in a heartbeat. It may be the best "car" I've owned, at least as good as the Chevies (2), VWs (2) and Volvos (4) I have bought new. Plus it does truck things. 2025 Hybrid AWD XLT.

Not to change the subject. But a friend had a 2011 F350 that made humming noises on the freeway from windshield gasket issues and wind. At least that is what he said was the cause.

My Subaru has tons of body noises while driving. A few clicks won't be an issue with thew Maverick. Subaru is constant noise hot or cold.
