Are the headlights too bright?

So I was wondering if anyone else has issues with passeby vehicles flashing their lights at you? Just to refresh I have a '24 Maverick XLT FX4 EB with 4k tow...not sure if most of that (or any of that) matters lol but I always have somebody flashing their high beams at me. Or they turn them on altogether. I rarely use my high beams (I've turned off auto highbeams) but always turn them off long before a vehicle nears me when ai donuse them. I'm just surprised by everyone assuming mine are on. I do find them to be the brightest I've ever had. My first "white" headlights. My other vehicles still had the standard yellow ting to them as they've always been affordable (or cheap) vehicles. With all the high end cars, suvs and full size trucks out there I feel mine are pretty reasonable

I use auto high beams all the time. When they are on high beam they immediately drop to low beams earlier than manually can be done even if you are ready. The. Manual (I have paper one with my 2022) has the alignment procedure. Some people have aligned theirs and posted. The drivers side lights lower than the passenger side to allow for lighting up the ditch side better. Get flashed much less with auto dimming on. The head lights do not auto high beam until speed is above 26(if I remember correctly or 28). It would sometimes be nice if they would automatically return oncoming flashing with a flash.

I lowered my MY24 XLT lights a couple months after purchase. The low beams have a very good upper cutoff. I set them to a wall approximately 40’ away and working perfect with nobody flashing me anymore. Used very flat surface with correct tire pressures.

I always get flashed with low beams on maybe I could lower them but can't see why I should have too. Even full size trucks with their ridiculous high end bright ass lights do it to me

Nowadays, dim lights are as bright as bright lights used to be. In urban areas I seldom have a chance really to go on bright. So I just turned auto dimming off.

I don't think they turn off fast enough. I turn mine off, when I actually use them as soon as I see oncoming traffic or their lights coming over the crest of a hill. Is 47 old??

With the projectors at least, there is no difference in lumen output from low to high, only how much of the beam is shaded up top. If you crest a hill, your high beams might as well be on for anyone facing you.

My '26 Mav auto high beams turn off as soon as the sensors detect ANY oncoming light... Heck, well reflective signage will turn them off LOL!

Got more beam flash for my Hyundai low beam light brightness than my new Mav, which maybe only got once while going over a hill toward oncoming traffic.

Going back and forth to our lake home we do come across lots of folks using fulltime high beams to spot highway deer crossings. Most dont respond to beam flashes from oncoming traffic.

If we're talking personal opinions.
I think the brights auto dim in time, just fine.
When driving twisty mountain roads at night. I'll concentrate on watching the road and driving. I'll leave the light control to the truck.
When I'm driving switchbacks on the mountain. I don't want to have to freaking worry about my bright lights, when the truck can adequately handle the job of diming them and switching them back to bright while I still have the wheel

It seems mine don't turn off using auto high beam until the oncoming vehicle is about 5-6 car links away. Also they immediately turn back on after the car passes by and have to go right back off for the next vehicle coming. I guess to each their own seems some agree with me and some don't. I did get flashed a couple times in my '17 Elantra but I've lost track of how many times in the Mav and I don't believe mine are the projector lights, just led. I'll have to line up in front of my garage and see if they are aimed properly but can't see why they wouldn't be.

To clarifiy:

Mavericks (and most modern cars) do not have bright and dim lights.

They have high beams and low beams of the same brightness. Only the upper cutoff of the beam changes.

OP, you might want to verify the aim of your headlights, they are easy to adjust if needed.

Also, LED reflectors tend to have more glare than projectors, so that is also a factor. The Mav headlights, for modern LED's, are just average at best, so, if they are adjusted properly, there is really no reason to be getting flashed excessively.

Yes, I was getting flashed all the time in the last 4 years of ownership. It even lights up overhead street signs. Lately it's way wors from transportation trucks though. They will blind everyone on the highway.
