No but I am going to get a 2023 for nothing as I still have so much equity in my 2022. Have had mine since October 3rd, 12,500 miles, and am still receiving offers for over what I paid for it.

That certainly is not dangerous...there is nothing that is going to change in the current market in the next year, that's for sure...
Well the price is already gone up on current maverick it’s 20.5 for xl hybrid now and 21k for eco xl…. So prices are going change

Yep, bubble is starting to burst. Sure some places people are making money still, but it is tailing off. You still have to take delivery/pay the taxes in order to sell it too, which means paying Fords destination charges, I don't think people who are spec ordering have thought this through too well.
Much safer move in states that don’t have sales tax.

I’m sure some will try . It’s a gamble , if used market goes back down they are stuck. If it goes higher or stay as is it will be ok for them .

That's news to me. I ordered a 2022 XL Ecoboost FWD - basic spec, nothing on it, $22,575 MSRP - for my dad who ended up not needing it. I kept it for a month and auctioned it off via Carmigo (they only auction to dealerships) on Memorial Day weekend. The high bidder was a Chevrolet dealership in Mississippi at $34,500. They picked up the truck June 6 from my home and ACH deposited the payment at the moment of pickup. After taxes/fees (including capital gains taxes) and everything I still came out about $8k ahead.

I'd say that is not bad for getting to put 2,000 miles on a Maverick, getting familiar with it, etc. I didn't buy it to sell it but I also did not need it for myself. So no, I would say you do not need to be a hybrid to make profit on selling your Mav.

Good for you bud. This has to be about the dumbest topic on here. Will you be able to do that exact same scenario next year with a 23' (The actual question)? Could you get that for it today? Don't answer, I really don't care. Order away. Hope it works out for you.
Bud...oh...I didn't know we turn to doing that....you can just PASS the thread if you don't like it.....you know what I mean?

The market is about to go one way or another. That dealership will have that sold in weeks time . My local dealer had same trucks spec in grey sold for 38k AWD xlt … right now is not 2023 + how long it takes for them to arrive

I'm not going to do this because I have a big boy career myself, but -

Isn't putting an order in not an actual contractual obligation?

You could put an order in at 5 dealerships and only take delivery / pay cash if they're going for 5-10K above market each.

If you back out, honestly, dealership probably still makes money on markup so idk who loses here other than the people getting orders delayed

Are there people out there who are going to buy a 2023 just to turn around and sell it or maybe sell their 2022 and wait for a 23 ?
Yes my plan is to order the MY23 and sell my current Maverick XLT Hybrid for a profit to get the MY23 for a lower cost than my MY22 and get the missing hitch that I forgot to do on my original order.

Currently Carvana is offering me $34,294 for my MY22 Maverick which is $8,226 over my total cost of my MY22 Maverick.

So even though the MY23 will cost me $1561 more because of the price increases for MY23 and because I will have to pay MSRP and not 1.8% under MSRP I will still come out ahead.

The math:

MY23 Maverick XLT Hybrid ($23,360) + CP360 ($650) + 400W Outlet ($150) + Trailer Hitch ($100) + $1,495 Destination Charge is $25,755 + Sales Tax of $1,618 + $150 Doc Fee + $193 other State Fees - $500 Farm Bureau Discount equals Total Out the Door price of $27,216

Taking off the Carvana $8,226 offer profit brings the actual purchase price down to $18,990 for my brand new MY23 Maverick.

Even is Carvana's offer crashes by $7,078 (which I doubt) I will still end up with a brand new MY23 Maverick at the same cost as my MY22 Maverick but I will have the missing hitch and a warranty from Ford that resets to new on delivery and no mileage on the OD compared to my current nearly 5,000 miles.
