I am pretty patient. My current car is a base model 2009 honda fit manual, 200K+ miles ($14k). I started looking for a replacement about 2 years ago. I like doing a lot of research since I plan on buying new and keeping it for a long time. I saw the Maverick news in 2021 and held out ordering until the consumer reports came out with a review (late spring). Which took forever. So I watched all the ordering drama for a year+. I found a close-ish dealer that guarantees MSRP and got on their list in May 2022 and ordered the second day for a 23 XLT hybrid (hitch and spare). Now I get a new kind of waiting. If you want to get a new car as cheaply as possible patience is the only way. ;-)If you are patient, it should be great as used inventory piles up, prices drop and there may be lots of "flipped" mavericks that you can purchase at a decent price that are certified pre owned.
Before COVID, a brand new vehicle was never in my cards. I would rather someone else take the depreciation hit. Now it looks like dealers may be doing that for us in the next 6-12 months![]()
