Are Canadians going to stop vacationing in Florida?

without discussing politics I can tell you in Vermont we have seen a dramatic decline in Canadians coming across the border and there is a significant percentage of the US population that does not feel safe going or being in Florida. We all know the reason without saying the words.

Between news articles about regular Canadians being incorrectly detained for weeks and even months by ICE, the visitor-unfriendly Florida government, the fingerprinting and excess inspection now required at the border, the general antagonism of the national government to Canadians and the buy-Canadian responses to all of the above, why on earth would you expect most Canadian to vacation in Florida anymore? And God help you during the anal probing if you have a Spanish accent at the border...

This is an "OFF TOPIC" placement. Off topic implies unrelated to to the topic. But thanks for the response. I have not seen any of what you stated here but I'm sure it happens. I am blistfully happy and have a keed ability to detach from the negative things that have always ways been present in one way, shape or form. I am lucky this way.

I don't watch the news any longer and I refrain from most all SM. So my experience is mostly in person. Yes I'm aware of whats going on. Also this: Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference."

Like I said I know enough about what's going on. I find odd that people are changing their plans due to a squable between two parties of which they can't control. Also I am learning exactly what I was hoping to learn through the comments to date. Thanks for your input.

Looking at the numbers available to everyone on-line.
Canada went down a bit in 2024. Venezuela “shot” down in 2024. Interesting what the 2025 numbers will show but FL “increased” in total visitors in “2024” regardless.
FL still has two coastlines with different vibes, overnight stays due to the three cruise hubs, the Keys, and (if you take out a second mortgage) the Orlando resorts.

Well I guess if they really think it will better the situation it would make sense. Doesn’t seem like it’s the case.

I still visit FL every two months to see my Mom. I enjoy my visits and have other family there so no hotel needed.
a few years back I would add a hotel trip but… this year I visited Bavaria, northern Spain, Athens, and Santorini and “saved money”. I missed the days where Vacations were two hours from the house… which in fact is still possible if you live in FL.

Umm, I think a BIG part is the way certain groups are getting screwed out of their hard earned $$$ by other groups!
