Cleveland Rocks!! And yes the Indians/Guardians have an opening game that day!! But it might turn out to be a typical Cleveland day...mostly cloudy. Oh well.

As everyone might already know we have a total solar eclipse cutting across US and Candida on April 8th. So what are your plans?
My house is close to the center of the path.

Lucky! We will get 50% in CA. I’ll watch with a welding lens

Where will you need to look? During day/night? When?
The comet will be visible for a month. See times to view with naked eyes. But the twist is for totality viewers the comet will appear for a few moments in the darkened sky in daytime! Called the devil comet because of 2 vapor plumes that look like horns.

Called p12 comet I think.

Tentatively planning to drive to southern IL to see the total eclipse. We're getting about 85% here. A lot hinges on weather forecast though.

I guess that depends on where we are. This time of year we can be anywhere from Burlington VT to West Palm Beach FL. So it is up to the boss where he schedules us. In all reality, we are better off being down in FL. Northern VT will be a zoo. Don't really want to be stuck in traffic with a semi full of horses. Or worse stuck on some small road to a farm because people are parked stupid on side roads.
April 8th is a cool day.
1. It's my step sons birthday.
2. It's the day before my birthday.
3. Most importantly, it is my Maverick build week!
PARTY!
Oh... wait. Busy season. I am always working on my birthday. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Visit family nearby the weekend before then head out going about 10miles from 99.9 % to 100% mid morning. Got a pocket subdivision with a long Western road that should be overlooked by others.

Thanks for sharing that! I'll look into it! I'd love to see it at night where I live. Shouldn't be that hard.

Like many others have already mentioned I plan on being at work that day. If time permits I might step outside and take a look.

Put some shrimp on the barbi, pour some adult beverages, sit in the front yard and enjoy 4:30 minutes of totality 😎

Heh, for me it’ll be more like 60 hours of driving, round trip. And sleeping in a roof-top tent in dispersed campgrounds both coming and going. Absolutely worth it. No question about it. None whatsoever.
That's dedication.. or insanity.

A solar eclipse is just not that impressive to me. Images from HST or JWST are much more interesting and I can browse them anytime I like.

I drove about a 1,000 miles one way for the 2017 eclipse. Worth every mile. Definitely a bucket list experience. The sudden darkness, chill and silence struck me while I watched our average-sized star, our source of life, dim.

Yes, 12P/Pons-Brooks. It's quite low on the horizon now.

Even a partial eclipse is really an incredible sight. Worth seeing even if you're not on the path of totality. There are a limited number to see in a lifetime.
