Anyone know why we are all getting pushed back?

Originally scheduled for 9/6 and now moved for the sixth time to 10/31. Are they building anything down there? According to our members a lot of us are being pushed. I assume it is a part shortage but what parts? I dropped everything from my XLT order to get it scheduled. Did the Ford Video Guy say anything about this and I missed it?

Lots of hybrids getting pushed back. I ordered an eco xlt that was scheduled for a build week of 10/24 and it got moved up and is built and ready to ship. If it's not a hybrid, I have no clue.

Most likely one of the following reasons…..

1. Part constraints, including the hybrid engine
2. Ford’s lack of ability to forecast better than your average meteorologist (flip a coin)
3. A vast conspiracy enabled by a foreign power that involves alien abductions.

I vote for #1, but I ranked these in order of likelihood. Your mileage may vary.

My XL 4K was scheduled for 10/11 and on 10/10 got pushed to the week of 10/24.

Not trying to pile on. But removing features in hopes of getting your vehicle is a crap shoot. In another thread members with items you removed, ordering after you also have build dates.

Its one reason I removed nothing, although I'm now waiting on a 2023.
hahahaha.....Oh I was a mid October 2021 order.

I just wish I could get a VIN so that I could get pushed back, or up, or anything.

The Lean/Just-in-Time production model that auto manufacturers now use (from Toyota) just falls down and falls down hard in a parts-constrained environment. I'm guessing that they are filling warehouses with parts outside the regular system, but having all the parts for all the scheduled builds for the month is pretty much expected. This tends to be covered by parts held at the suppliers. Dell was famous for saying they held no parts inventory, but their assembly site had full supplier warehouses all around it. Ford is probably doing a lot of un-planned changes to the schedule to account for the fact that the suppliers (including internal suppliers like engines) still can't keep up. Expect that every problem that the Assembly Plant has is being duplicated at the supplier sites. Simple things like electrical switches are still in short supply.

It would appear that consumer goods have passed the Covid hump (retailers are sitting on excess inventory), but industrial customers are still struggling. I'm in warehousing/supply chain (not Automotive), and the other problem is that people have a lot of inventory, but it's the wrong inventory since orders took so long to be fulfilled. I have a rule of thumb that the more inventory you have the less likely you ar eto have the exact inventory you need.

That doesn't help us, but this isn't just Ford not knowing how to do their job, it's the production system no longer works as it was built.

Not to mention at this point it's completely pointless to wonder about in the context of a '22MY order. You're either scheduled already or balanced out so there's no removing options that's going to change that.

Anecdotally what I’ve noticed in past weeks is hybrids being pushed back and Eco-boosts moved up. That combine with the recent announcement that the hybrid engine is one of two constraints called out for 2023 scheduling suggests Ford can’t get one of the key components for the hybrid powertrain. That is not to say there aren’t other issues out there delaying some builds, but the hybrid seem to be the biggest problems. Ford just can’t build them.

Ford is also getting close to a breaking point. They can’t push back much further without delaying start of the 2023 production. Next week will be interesting to see whether they do schedule 2023’s and if so what weeks they slot into. I’d also be shocked if any hybrid 2023’s we scheduled.

I received 2 emails suggesting if I dropped some feature I MIGHT get scheduled. That was what I meant.

Yeah, been waiting a year. Scheduled 11/14. Hybrid by Christmas? And then there's the possible rail strike in the mix.

Today is my 1 year order anniversary. I don't think Ford got me anything. 🎁

We need a new hash tag #HybridsForXmas.

And you are on the money with the return of the rail strike threat. With my October build date I thought that risk was behind me but having been pushed back in November it may get me yet.

For those not following this at least one of the unions involved in the railways has rejected the proposed labor settlement. More unions are still voting by mail and results won't be announced for a few weeks. You might have more unions rejecting the offer. The union that turned it down is willing to continue negotiating but warned that if things didn't not progress they would be considering a strike in mid to late November.

This happens commonly (with Mavericks and other vehicles). My Maverick that was built in early April. It jumped around 5 times before it got a solid build date. My mother's Hybrid Escape that just came it also jumped between 5 different build weeks.
Switching/adjusting build weeks is nothing new or abnormal (but I'm sure recent parts shortages have made it more frequent than usual!)
