Not necessarily a Maverick specific question, but has anyone installed the plug & play remote start? I assume it would be the same installing it on a Maverick as any other ford vehicle. I know they all come standard with remote start on the app but I like to have the key fob remote start as an option and would like to add it when I get it

theres a $100 option that upgrades the security sensors and alarm, key fob range, and add remote start to key fob

Is this a dealers installed option or one a diy one that you purchase? I don't recall seeing it

It's a dealer installed option, it's actually $208. My dealer couldn't find it on his options when building the truck but when I selected my build on ford.com it was on there. They're going to try to get it for me when I get closer to getting my truck

I have been trying to find a clear answer to this also and haven't. I would like to have a key fob remote start for my Lariat non-lux. I am not interested in including the security option.

With the experience I have with my transit and other reports where the vehicles just won’t start…. I wouldn’t be putting money into the remote start system. I’d just keep using the app.

If it's anything like the f150s you can get the kit with keys for about 150-200. The. Just need for scan or have the dealer turn it on. I did that on my '13 f150 and dealer just charged an extra 40 during a oil change to do so after i already installed the hardware and paired the keys.

Security system standard on non-Lux Lariat, so all you have to do is buy extra remote start fob from Ford Accessories. One with a remote horn and lights button @ $100, or the smaller fob without the horn button @ 2 for $100. These fobs are in addition to, and do not replace, the ones that come from the factory.
You should be able to program them yourself. Just cycle the ignition off and on five times. See full instructions at https://www.fordservicecontent.com/...022_RMST_Common_I_sheet_12_13_21_D3_Final.pdf.
If I am incorrect about anything above, I would love to find out BEFORE I get my truck to try this out.

Here are the 2022 Maverick instructions for installing the optional Vehicle Security System (VSS) also sold as the Perimeter Security System. Also, attached is the same instruction without the first 10 sheets of wire termination instructions. The correct Maverick VSS is part number KN1Z19A361A.

Importantly, you do not have to purchase a specific key fob to activate remote start. You can program your Ford supplied Maverick key fob for remote starting after installing the VSS module and pair (Ford calls it learn) the module to the trucks computer.

Not sure what you mean but the factory remote on the XL - XLT does not have a remote start button on it - what would activate the remote start ?

My non-lux Lariat does not have the VSS (AKA Perimeter Security System).

You press lock button once, then the unlock button, and finally the lock button once again, within a 3 second period. Viola! It starts. You can also turn it off the same way.

I would much rather get a Bronco Sport Remote with a remote start button than having to do a sequence.
