Hi all,

I just attempted to do this and it looks like the spring from the coil pack stayed stuck on the sparkplug. I had seen a video on YouTube where this happened () but there was no follow-up so I stopped and didn't go further. is this happening to anyone out there? is there a special tool to do the sparkplug change? thx

The platinum-electrode plugs are supposedly rated for around 60k miles, so why are you changing them already?

Wow, you are pretty close to the 100,000 mile service manual recommended change interval.
You may end up having to pulling the spring off of the spark plug with a pair of long nose/needlenose pliers. You may want to think about getting the rubber boot rebuild kit, if it's possible.
It should have new springs in the kit.

What are your thoughts on the Maverick hybrid after 80,000 miles?

thanks great info and advice. I love the truck, has never left me stranded and I even still have the original tires are still on it.. though at this point I'm changing those too. The truck runs and feels like the day I drove it off the lot. only complaints, that dumb sync 3 interface

Thank you for your reply.
That is a lot of miles. I'm glad you still like it.
I don't know if I'll ever put that many miles on this Maverick. Especially if they come out with a plug-in hybrid Maverick.
Drive safe,

I could be wrong but I think Ford recommends sparkplug change at 100,000 miles. How many miles are you at?

Like changing the oil on a new vehicle at 1k miles. Why, but people do, Merica.

If he has 80k miles on his truck, imo they're past due. I've changed mine normally between 35-40k miles. Especially with a ecobblst motor. I remember on my 12' F-150, the gaps on the plugs from the factory were all over the place.

Ford engines are usually 100,000 mile maintaince free. At 100,000 miles I have the plugs replaced and all hoses and belts.

Maybe I’m missing something, but from here I’d yank the spring out and replace the coil, might as well do all 4 with the plugs.

Blow compressed air into the hole before removing plugs.

And use dialetric grease, then coil will pull off ok next time
