Now that I finally have my VIN and a build week, I want to start thinking about how to take care of this truck properly.

The Maverick is my first brand new vehicle, and my first hybrid, so I want to make sure that I do the first thousand engine miles correctly. What is the best way to break it in to ensure longevity on the engine?

From the manual:

BREAKING-IN
Your vehicle requires a break-in period. For
the first 1,000 mi (1,600 km), avoid driving
at high speeds, heavy braking, aggressive
shifting or using your vehicle to tow. During
this time, your vehicle may exhibit some
unusual driving characteristics.

So:
- Don't drive like a 16 year old
- Don't tow anything
- Stay off the interstate

Follow this ^^ and have many happy Maventures mavering around. Nothing special, just drive it, the warranty will cover whatever breaks (as long as there are no aftermarket add-ons or mods).

I guess I'm worried that the hybrid won't have as many engine miles on it. Manual only says 1000 miles, though, so.... *shrug* Thanks!

Since I drive 75% highway, setting the cruise control often, using Eco mode and paying attention to the brake coach attributed to an increase from 38 to 42 MPG.

Colder weather on the third tank of gas has decreased my MPG to 39. Granted I started with 87 octane, switched to non ethanol 91 (20 cent per gallon price difference) and back to 87 (now a 30 cent difference).

My fourth tank will be ethanol free 91 octane regardless of the price difference because I'm too curious about the MPG improvement.
