Dumb. I’m going to turn mine “upside down” and cut a hole in my hood. Much cooler that way!

Come on now, you know the saying, "Anything doing is worth doing right" ......

The question becomes whether you center this on the hood, or offset over the throttle body...

The sad thing is that I pre-date when these were in vogue......

Reminds me of the National Lampoon "Thunder Chicken"
They bolted a Circuit breaker box to the hood as a hood scoop
Made way more power LOL
The eves trough side pipes were another nice touch!

A snorkel is not an intake, it's to get you through flood water. Most snorkels I am familiar with, you get about 3 ft of water in the interior of the truck way before the snorkel goes under water. It takes much work to get your vehicle ready to motorboat a stream as most axle housing have vents, as do gas tanks, etc. The attached picture of the installation looks more like a ram air intake housing. I don't need one of those either.

That was a lot of reading, but it still didn't answer my question

Yes it looks cool, but does it work?
It will work - but will lead to hotter coolant temperatures due to it covering a large portion of the radiator.

Also, It uses the OEM opening - big mouth fits onto the small mouth.

Yes it will work. Work like crap.

You can ram all the air you want through your stock air breather or a K&N.
Your fuel air mix will remain right where your system wants it to be.
You’d need a retune to take advantage of more available air.

Looks really cool tho.
I remember guys removing mustang 5.0 headlight to put a 3" plastic pipe out from air intake to gain 3mph drag racing back in the day

Unless the air temp is reduced and density rises…..….
Then your fuel air mix is re adjusted again for the fuel to air ratio your system has decided is best.
Computer controlled keeps it at factory spec for what ever situation you encounter.
From cold days to hot to mashing on the gas hard to pulling a trailer etc.

As one in here said it’s just another way to get green out of your wallet.

The intake would have mattered if you had a carburetor system but you don’t.
You have computer controlled fuel injection.

But hey, get one. It looks fast so I gotta
Be wrong right ?
Get one it’s your money !

You really don’t understand and I’m not here to teach you When you’re just regurgitating stuff you saw on the internet rather than take the opportunity to learn.

Yes, the vehicle adjusts the fuel delivery to temps and density reported by the MAF, etc., The cooler the intake charge the more fuel the vehicle adds to retain the factory AFR (to a degree).. More fuel + more air (generally) = more power.

There‘s a reason why so many quarter mile best times are recorded at tracks like MIR, etc, where I live because those tracks can have mine-shaft DAs.

I’m out of this thread, nothing to do with the product in the OP.

Enjoy your Maverick good luck..…..

You are right on with your post Johnkn. I raced at Pacific (SIR) and Bremerton Racway, it gets me how many don`t understand how air density can make power and the tracks that at or near Sea Level you make more power, and to think that the computer is going to just adjust and keep the engine at the same power just shows some are best to read and not respond

I live at 3000ft elevation and never really thought about the loss of power from my EB. Seems I get about 10% less power than my sea level compatriots? About 3-4% less power per 1000 feet of elevation gain?

But my mpg’s don’t suffer (may actually gain a .5%) due to less aerodynamic drag in the thinner air?

No wonder the folks in Denver run slower 0-60 times with their EB Mavericks!

Yeah, yeah, the colder the air at the intake the more dense it is. It hits a hot piston and expands exponentially. In the 60s, 1/8 milers packed ice on the intake manifold to get denser air into the carburetor (didn't really work). Racing computer controlled cars is a joke. In the 60s, the back end of my my SS Chevelle would raise up over an inch when I goosed the throttle. If I floored it from a standstill, the front wheels would leave the ground. 396CI, Borg Warner T10, 12 bolt rear end with 488 gears, 780 dual line pumper, high-lift camshaft with heavy duty springs, 6 quart oil pan with a wind tray to keep the oil down around the crankshaft, and NO COMPUTERS. That was my street car. It's laughable when I read about Mavs capable of beating a true pony car. Take the computers of a late model, set it up properly, and it will whip the a_s of it's computer controlled counterpart. BTW, in the 60's, if you weren't careful dumping the clutch on a stock Sportster or Kawasaki, you would be on your back looking at the sky with your bike on top of you. It was common to get traffic violations for an "unsafe start" when your front wheel left the ground and you kept it there for 100 or so yards. Why? NO COMPUTERS and no compensator sprocket. No communication devices for operators either. No BS. You had to prove you had a hot item, driver ability not considered and often used for an excuse when you lost, but no computer rants (like this one), or BS. But hey, sometimes I enjoy the BS but I'd rather learn and help others.
