That was a lot of reading, but it still didn't answer my question

Yes it looks cool, but does it work?

You can ram all the air you want through your stock air breather or a K&N.
Your fuel air mix will remain right where your system wants it to be.
You’d need a retune to take advantage of more available air.
Unless the air temp is reduced and density rises…..….

Yes it works, two work better coupled with an S&B intake.. Nothing to do with changing the A/F mix.........

Water intake and rod length adjuster....

... though last Ford engine I saw with excess fluid problems the rods shattered and punched the block. Brother in Law had a Windstar and it was doing the fog machine tailpipe thing. Took to a mechanic who said it was headgasket, when I said it was cracked intake, mechanic guy who owned some wrenches said intake should be fine, replaced HG, and BiL calls me over when it gets back, mayonaising the oil again, and blowing phat clouds, and as we watched it idling it went chug, chug, bang, clatterclatter and a tidal wave of oil just missed our boots. Somehow though, he asked me less car advice after that and CONTINUED going to that "mechanic".

If the onboard computers were static, you would need a re-tune. The computers are dynamic, constantly adjusting to inputs such as air and fuel volume, one wheel slipping more than another wheel, etc. Ford sets the parameters (high, low, optimum) for the inputs and they are adjusted on the fly. You may need a re-tune for increased air volume, probably not. That is why you don't for a K&N air filter. It is accounted for by the onboard computers. You might install a Pedal Commander. Pedal Commanders intercept sensor data and lie to the onboard computers, a dicey proposition. You select a mode, P.C. sends their lies. IMO, you can probably trust your computer to make this minor fuel mixture adjustment.

they say you can get better gas mileage from a K & N filter or more power from a snorkel. with the k&n filter vs motor craft the air résistance is in the filter and throttle valve. No difference and with the snorkel more HP you will never feel the difference. Just get a ranger with the 2.3 ecobust engine

You have to permanently remove some radiator slats and then have the Big Mouth cover a large portion of the radiator.

I’m going to turn mine “upside down” and cut a hole in my hood. Much cooler that way!
