My daily drivers were 5 regular cab rangers since 1989. I drove my mustang for fun in the summer. I had a first year neon I bought from a family member and drove a little before I sold it.

I have had some struggles getting used to my mav. It's wider is the most obvious thing.

I got the xlt, fx4. The other night right in front of the courthouse, I ran over a curb on a narrow street turning right. Both wheels in the grass. No traffic, but practicing on a tight turn to stay in my lane.

Anybody else having to learn the way a new type of vehicle drives?
I agree. Came from a Kia Minivan where I have now realized (after driving the Maverick) just how "high" I was sitting in the Kia, and just how much of a "slope" there was to the hood and windshield. The Maverick hood being so squared off and relatively flat is night and day from what I was seeing in the Kia where I feel like I could see about a foot more towards the ground in front of my bumper.

I have not curbed it or run over any garbage cans on the front passenger side yet, but I have found myself overcompensating on my passesnger side by staying extra far from curbs and taking turns pretty wide. I used to be able to slide right up against a curb with less than an inch of spare room. Now the same spot on the same curb finds me parking like 6 to 8 inches from the curb. Haha. I'll get used to it.....

I find myself parking way too far back most of the time.
Yes! I park in a parking garage at work and I found myself with about a foot of room between my bumper and the wall, even when I tried to use my headlights to give me a sense of how close to the wall I was getting.

Like most of you here, I have trouble judging the distance with the front in parking spaces with the rear hanging out. I plan on fixing that tomorrow. I got a "rear" parking camera that I plan on mounting on the front to see how close I get.

Still adjusting to getting it into the garage but so far no dings or scratches on it yet. On the road, no issues, it is perfect size.
I picked up a couple of abandoned construction lane cones. One in front and one on the left side. I slide into them and the golf cart and garage frig is safe.

Back in, then you can see with the camera.
Shhh, you're giving away all my secrets. ;)

But seriously, parking is so much easier with the camera. Because the camera is centered on the vehicle, centering the vehicle in a spot is effortless - so long as the lines aren't badly faded or covered in snow, of course. Added benefits: better visibility when leaving a parking spot, can mean that you're not loading/unloading the vehicle while standing in the aisle as vehicles drive past.

Yes but not the size... It's the blind spots. Had a jeep jku that was wider

No problem at all adjusting to it. I’ve had a wide variety of vehicles in my lifetime. The Maverick is, by far, the easiest truck I’ve ever driven! I love the turning radius, and the length, width, and height! It’s perfect for me all the way around!!

So I'm going to have to get used to something not as nimble.

Right now my daily driver is a Buick Encore with a turning radius of 18'. My other car is a Miata and a motorcycle. The Maverick has a turning radius of 30'. Right now I can zoom around a parking lot and easily fly into a space.

Piece of cake for me. But then again my truck is an 04 4x4 Excursion that takes a small football field to turn around.

Three months and 3,000 miles into owning my Maverick, I still consider it a bloated whale compared to my two Ranger single cabs. I bought a Maverick ONLY because it's the least bad option currently available out there. It gets unceremoniously dumped as soon as something more nimble arrives. Seriously, driving it around narrow city streets is a frigging nightmare. Parking it at night in the city is a non-starter.

In fairness, in all other aspects it blows all my Rangers out of the water. Performs better. Quiet. No axle hop on bumps. Much nicer amenities. I just wish it were two feet and two doors shorter. But I fully recognize I'm in the minority in the size-obsessed USA driving population.

As a side note, I was in the Army for 12 years. I was an Armor Crewman on the M60 series and M1A1 tanks. I drove them quite a bit. Going from a 60 ton beast to driving a Maverick…no problem at all!! I also drove school bus and a box truck for a while…driving a Maverick is a pleasure!! I’ve owned cargo vans, conversion vans, mini vans, full sized trucks, station wagons, big cars, and small. My favorite is the Maverick!

Never felt comfortable driving bigger vehicles, but after getting married moved into the van/SUV arena and like having that extra head room and higher up driving view. Maverick fits my style perfectly. My adaption is a reversal. I think I'm in a bigger vehicle and tend to overcompensate my size. I think big truck from the inside, then get out and look back and think, "Gee, I could've pulled up a couple more feet".
