I agree that the forums will amplify any of the problems and act as a sort of echo chamber. I also read that Ford used a "Lean" process, not unlike software developers and gave the design team a limited budget and time frame to get something out the door. We now become test market from which they learn and improve the product. I have very few complaints but I can see some room for improvement in the coming years as they develop the product. I would imagine it is someones job to read all our complaints on the forums and validate the serious issues before they get a flood of complaints in the dealers. I believe that we provide a service being early adopters/test pilots as with any product but in todays "lean" business world with social media instant feedback it is extremely valuable to the manufacturer.

Seeing all these threads from folks reporting all manner of problems. I was wondering how many people have taken delivery and have experienced no problems at all.

Ive just learned cars and electronics have issues these days and at times do funny things. As long as people arent getting transmission failures driving at speed on the interstate like i had with my jeep before it hit 20k ill be good. That was some scary shit.

...One would imagine. However Ford doesn't want to hear from or address the issues we see as parts guys- and we see it all. We have an FMC forum to discuss issues amongst each other but trying to get any kind of input/response let alone a fix from anyone at Ford is like screaming into the void.

If you think Ford cares AT ALL about what complaints the dealers have to deal with, just look at how they handled the DPS6 Focus/Fiesta clutch debacle. They don't care.

I think Ford is going the same direction as a lot of other large corporations. They don't want to hear what the consumer wants, they are going to tell you what you want. And they're large enough to get away with it. The question is for how long.

All this being said, I just bought my first new vehicle, a 2022 Maverick XL AWD because all things considered they still make great products.

You are probably right. These are big companies with a lot of moving parts. At the end of the day it's all about money.

Don't know what website you are referring to.....

Because on this website the ratio of VERY happy Maverick owners vs. people reporting minor issues is about 25:1

I have had my XLT Maverick Hybrid since 12/13 and have absolutely no issues.

Driven daily and have put on about 250 miles while getting 41.7 MPG while both heating and running the AC. Texas is weird in December as we have had days with highs in the low 40's then days in the low 80's.

It's really easy to get concerned about quality when browsing the forums. I think that if you aren't seeing a particular topic being blown up with folks suffering from the same issue, probably safe to assume you'll get a great vehicle that you'll love.
It's good to see what issues others have had and make sure you won't be dealing with the same, but if it's only one or two people having a problem out of the thousands that are on here, you're more than likely safe :)

Reading the reviews on anything is a trap. People who hate products love to bad mouth and give it a 1 star. Few people want to rave about it and give it 5 stars. Everyone that is satisfied is not talking. Similar to a forum. Plenty of hype and some small to serious issues

I know I can’t remember all the issues but below are some of them. I would use it as a guide of things to keep an eye out for but not to stress over.

Fuel tank recall - problem solved going forward
Seat belt recall - problem solved going forward

Paint chips (rocks)
broken front grill (probably a 🪨 rock)

Windshield cracked (rocks and warranty)

Transmission fluid overflowing (overfilled during build, Ford said this issue has been addressed)

Ford pass remote start on hybrids running rich and turning the CAT red hot is a computer issue that Ford needs to fix.

Various alignment issues from a few people. Should be an easy fix for any of them. I’ve heard steering wheel shakes at 70 MPH and truck pulls the right from two different people.

Half shaft and control arm squeak/leak - both got replaced under warranty.

Radio freezing - Ford said the fix is coming next week.

Various rattles from different components that got lose, easy fix for most of them so far.

Rain leaks into back door because of improper sealant behind door panel. Fixed by the dealer without issue.

poor sealant/weld where truck bed meets the windshield (bottom left/driver side). This is an eye sore more than an issue.

Hood shake that has numerous solutions.

Dead on Arrival. One hybrid has been DOA and status is unknown at this point. It’s sad but sometimes there is a dud.

Some people have noted that when they hit a deer, or semi truck their truck no longer functions.
Well stated and beautifully put. I've worked supply chain and production for decades, and had a firm rule to NEVER buy the first issue of a new car model, because the first run of anything has bugs. I broke my rule because 1) I wanted a hybrid truck, not just a truck; 2) the hybrid motor has a good pedigree, and the likelihood of bugs, while high, would likely center on more minor resolvable issues like the list above. Everthings has bugs, period. Just got to accept this, plan for it, and move on. Folks, we can pretty much promise ourselves the Maverick is NOT going to be a Chevy Nova. Be happy.
