that’s why they have “Towing mode”
Select that in the drive modes selector.
especially in hilly areas. The truck will down shift to help get up the hills, and engine brake down hills. And won’t go into OD unless your cruising on a flat road.
EVERY Maverick has
Normal, Slippery, and Towing
Optional modes are
Eco, Mud, Sand, Sport.

I hear ya.
But unfortunately in today’s day and age, everything is computer controlled,
Steering, brakes, parking brake, throttle, gears. Nothing is manual anymore

I for one would have paid extra for a 6 Mt. All my vehicles have a clutch. Not Sure how I am going to handle an Automatic. I am very unhappy about the lack of SPORTS mode in the FX4. Ordered it before the literature changed to exclude that function. For the life of me I can't understand why a COMPACT SPORT TRUCK wouldn't have this feature. Many of us do very little true off roading and would benefit in the tighter steering and throttle response for city use. I may not be able to cope and will sell the truck after delivery. very disappointed in how this is unfolding.

Because the Maverick isn't a Sports Truck! Nowhere in the ford literature does it say it is.

I didn’t say Ford labels it that. I do. Let’s be real; they made faux hood scoop, bed spoiler, and cab spoiler….. sounds like they are representing sporty. Lol. The point was the previous literature mentioned sport mode as one of the 7 choices. Now says “if equipped”

It takes more than a hood scope and decals to make the Maverick a Sport Truck... What about suspension, a more rigid body, bigger breaks, better steering? Sport mode just remaps the throttle for quicker response, does not add more power.

People can take a BMW 535 and make it LOOK like an M5, but it's NOT an M5, there is more to making something than just adding tack on items. But if you want to call the Maverick a sport truck then go ahead...
