What do you think? Any chance? I would love to get an AWD, but I really want a Hybrid. You can get an AWD Hybrid Escape, so it is possible. I think this would be a great addition to the Maverick lineup!

There's always a chance but it's not likely though. Maybe in 2024.

I usually keep a car for as long as I can but I'm thinking I might trade my '22 in on a newer AWD truck in a couple of years when, hopefully, any new car bugs are worked out.

Nope. There's no time to make changes like that esp with all the shortages. 2024 is a good chance tho

I'm thinking maybe by the mid cycle refresh, which for Ford is typically the 4th or 5th model year. Ford has made incidental changes for each model year, but something as significant as a hybrid AWD released outside of a mid cycle refresh would be unusual.

I'm holding my breath for a hybrid AWD. If it was offered at launch I most likely would've broken my own "no Fords until the mid cycle refresh" rule and ordered one.

Doubt it. My guess is If it is offered at the earliest it won’t be until a mid fresh but probably not until the next gen Maverick.

None. My bet is on when the midyear refresh comes.

MY 2024 with the ranger hybrid, imo.

My guess is no. If Ford did they would have customers with unfilled orders flip for a 23. I see little incentive to make big changes for 23. More likely to see a larger screen, a 60/40 split rear seat and push button start in the XLT.

Ford is selling out. They have no reason to change anything for 2023. I also agree we wont see anything new on the Maverick besides colors until 2024.

One of the engineers involved with the making of the Maverick was asked that question and said it would take minimal work to make an AWD hybrid. But you are probably right that it will be awhile before it actually comes out.

Ford does not need to produce the hybrid awd to sell the truck.
I bet they are working on releasing a plug in first. The shift towards electrification and the $ federal rebate out there are a more compelling argument.

While I would have loved an AWD hybrid myself, I think the reason it wasn't offered is because the Ecoboost is already pretty decent. It competes with other gas model SUVs (if on the low end), bests the only competition in the Santa Cruz and provides a decent amount of power.

If there were a Hybrid AWD, it wouldn't do as well as the FWD model - if the net result is 6-8 better MPG over the Ecoboost, how many buyers would be swayed?

I suspect we'll see an AWD PHEV or electric Maverick for mid-refresh rather than a simple hybrid awd addition. Considering how groundbreaking the Hybrid Maverick was (competitive in price/economy against all vehicles), I'd expect a hybrid/phev/ev awd refresh model to be just as innovative, a couple years out.

Obviously anything is possible, but I would guess not. Ford might announce it near the end of 2023, but I think/guess its going to be 2024 before we could actually see AWD on the hybrid Maverick.

My guess is no awd hybrid until eco boost discontinued. They will still sell out of every hybrid they make. Only big thing you will see 2023 model year is big price increase.

I would think a PHEV FWD added to the lineup is far more likely
