Anti Collision Red Box Appears Unexpectedly, no nearby vehicles?

2025 XLT Anti collision red box appears, but no nearby vehicles in front and no possible collision vehicles by side. Any fixes for this? I like the option but I feel notices are in error.

Mine went off once when a driver on a side street pulled up aggressively to a stop sign on my front right side of road.

Alarm startled me more than the driver (which I saw)! But better safe/startled than sorry

Edit - getting false alarms would suck. Like stevj said, I would clean my sensors if it happened to me as a first step

Same here! I never had my red flashing emergency braking go off except in Sterling Heights MI through the industrial area theres this 5 lane road with stoplights every 100 yards or so, people are lane changing extremely aggressively to get to their plant, if a car is next to you then starts moving toward your lane quick enough, that will trigger the flashing red emergency braking it probably emergency braked me 8 or 9 times in 2 weeks on that road.

You can pick 1 of 3 levels of how aggressively you want the emergency braking to work. I think its all camera actuated not LIDAR because I have it in an XL Mav so no LIDAR

Every once in a while, Pops will throw a warning light or tell me to pull over for a coffee. We have been together for a year and half and the truck sometimes still surprises me.

False positives happen from time to time. Make sure the exterior glass for front facing camera, which is behind the rear view mirror, is clean, it helps.

Like braking is not actually a big part of it, nor the settings - that's a misunderstanding on what's going to happen.


How Does Pre-Collision Assist Work


The system warns the driver of potential hazards by providing three levels of assistance.

If your vehicle is rapidly approaching potential hazards, the system provides the following levels of functionality:

1. Alert.

1. Brake Support.

1. Automatic Emergency Braking.

Alert: When active, a flashing visual warning appears and an audible warning tone sounds.

Brake Support: The system is designed to help reduce the impact speed by preparing the brakes for rapid braking. The system does not automatically apply the brakes. If you press the brake pedal, the system could apply additional braking up to maximum braking force, even if you lightly press the brake pedal.

Automatic Emergency Braking: This may activate if the system determines that a collision is imminent.

Note: If you perceive the pre-collision assist alerts as being too frequent or disturbing, then you can reduce the alert sensitivity. Setting the low sensitivity would result in fewer and later warnings of a potential forward collision. The manufacturer recommends using the high sensitivity setting where possible.
Note: Automatic emergency braking performance is not affected by the sensitivity setting.

I got it going down rural routes when mailboxes are close to the road. Occasionally it will flash because of solid objects on the outside of a curve your are just turning into.

Mine did that this morning. Got out to check the sensors and found frost buildup was affecting one sensor. Cleaned it off and all was good.

My alert went off this morning and startled the heck out of me, flashing and beeping. Four lane urban road with plenty of stop lights and the usual rush hour crew showing off their racing skills in their older japanese sedans. i was slowing down for a red light, so it just had to be another vehicle that got into my mav's personal space.

Funny, I had a car pull out in front of me last week, I hit the brakes so hard I thought my foot would go through the floorboard. No warning whatsoever. Just missed hitting that car. I don't trust the system at all .
