Antenna pulled out from roof of Maverick. $1500 fix quoted

Hi

I live in Canada. The Antenna of my Maverick got caught in the rope loop to pull my garage door down (See picture below). Dealer referred to their collusion expert wants. They have quoted me $1500 to fix. This doesn't seem to me that it should be that hard a fix with the right parts but I'm not sure exactly where to find them or what to do to install correctly. I was wondering if anybody here would be willing to point me in the right direction.

That hole looks ripped.. so for metal work on the roof, they’re probably right. Insurance will cover this. You want it to be right.

If the hole in the roof doesn't extend past the sides of the antenna base, you might be able to drop the headliner, rewire it, and use 3M Marine Adhesive/Sealant or another heavy duty silicone sealant to stick it back on. But you probably will never be able to take it to a drive thru carwash again.

^^ 3M 5200 will permanently adhere the antenna base to the roof and it will be watertight. If it needs to come off in the future it will have to be cut off.

I ran a dealer body shop for more years than I like to admit, its a big job all labor the headline has to come down, theres welding involved so the interior has to be covered with welding blankets and seat may have to come out for easy access to back side of roof.
you're going to have to fabricate a plate and weld it in then do some bodywork and repaint roof. I did some quick numbers in my head figure about 1200 labor, materials 150 and tax
and you look like you need and antenna I would say your body shop is in the ballpark.
Sorry, all I could say is bring it to a quality shop roof repairs can be tricky you dont want mismatched or paint flaking off few year's down the road..

Dang, if that happened to me it probably would have pulled the garage opener down and taken out the sun roof, windshield and/or hood.

I would fix this with minimal effort. Touch up paint and 3M tape like mentioned. Drop the liner, rewire everything and slap it back on. Job done. Not perfect but good enough for a eco car. My 2 cents

I would silicone and 3m tape. Drop the headliner if you want the radio connection or live off of Bluetooth

Quick and dirty? Find a shark fin replacement that has a bigger base. Put it on with that 3M adhesive and rewire it under the headliner. The new antenna might even work with the bulkhead connector and you don't have to use much sealant. Grind down those edges sticking up.

The emergency rope handle should be removed and zip tied anyway, biggest and easiest security threat. If there is any issue in my garage, I’m using the personal door instead of trying to open a big massive door haha.

BTW, the 3M 5200 I referred to above is not tape, it’s a waterproof adhesive with the consistency of silicon we commonly use in the Marine field. Bed the antenna base in 5200 and it won’t come off. Worse case, there’s nothing to lose based on the existing damage
