So many negative comments..

I’ve got No issues here 😎 warm climate all year round. I use remote start through FordPass frequently to cool the cabin.

I don’t need your respect—especially if it requires me to tell someone to fuck off.

To the bigger point, the Ford rep on this forum is likely limited in they can do and say. Insulting a low-level employee isn’t going to help solve this problem. Rather, it’s likely to discourage them from engaging, because nobody wants to be treated that way.
When I have a customer complaint, I address it as quickly and candidly as possible. If I ignored them for weeks or months and then finally responded with a non-answer? Then I'd expect to lose them as a customer for sure. And likely lose my job.

We're taking about a purchase that represents a significant portion of most people's income. And if that purchase has a malfunction that is almost certainly damaging itself and likely poses a safety issue? Jesus, the audacity.

Why should a customer in this case expect anything less than a quick, candid response?

Their post here is 10x more disrespectful than mine.

This is Internet forum. There are proper channels for your complaints- but instead of answers that you wanted all you got is a lot of strangers on an Internet forum being embarrassed by your behavior.

Great work, champ.

I’ve made so much damn noise— all I was told, and get this, was that a TSB was on the way, possibly months, and up to a year+ away. I was offered nothing but the runaround. Our Official Ford media specialist here did a great job getting the ball rolling for me, but from there on the rest of Ford dropped the ball over, and over, and over again.

Booooo!

I'm not sure what you do next, but after this occured on my truck, the fuel economy dropped from 40+ mpg to 28-30 mpg. Seems like the catalytic converter becomes restrictive after this event.

"The emissions defects warranty coverage period for passenger cars
and light duty trucks (applies to vehicles up to 8,500 pounds GVWR)
is as follows:
— 8 years or 80,000 miles (whichever occurs first) for catalytic
converters, electronic emissions control unit, and onboard
emissions diagnostic devices, including the Battery Energy Control
Module (BECM). "

https://www.ford.com/cmslibs/conten...id-Warranty-version-2_frdwa_EN-US_12_2020.pdf
My gas mileage went down even more than that. It was about 20mpg over the 18miles leading up to the first event with my Mav.

Forgive me for repeating this, but I was told by my local service manager there’s a TSB on the way, maybe months, maybe a year or more away. In the meantime I was told not to let my Mav idle in park. No pre-defrosting the car, no prewarming.

They sent a field tech to my dealership— they got nothing. Beyond that, almost everything that’s happened to me along the way, from a customer service POV, tells me Ford has forgotten what customer service means. I’m VERY likely selling my Mav to Carvana. And it’s going to be a looooonnnnng time before I ever consider a Ford again… unless someone at Ford figures out how to return a call or an email and offers me the world on a silver platter.

Seems like everyone who is having this issue is up in stupidly cold areas.
New rule: only use remote start in warm climates for AC. Live up north? Get a garage and avoid remote start.
I hope you’re being facetious… maybe Ford should include that in the owner’s manual for the 2023 Maverick Hybrids.

“Live in a cold climate? Build a garage. Live in a cold city? Build a parking garage.”

Yes, in a hybrid with the heat on at a decent level
It also happened to me immediately after a short trip after I put the car in park. In fact, that was the first time it happened, and my cat / manifold was glowing JUST like in that first post, if not worse.

Good morning! Could you please send us a private message with your VIN and dealership information? I would like to look into these catalytic converter concerns for you on my end. Thanks!
How many people have you done this for and actually found something out? I know you were kind and competent getting my issues heard at HQ, but it’s been a non-stop mess ever since. Do you have substantive information for people like me who are about to divorce Ford, possibly forever?

Hope somebody is archiving these posts for the court case when someones house burns down.
Exactly.

I reported this a month ago. About a week later I told the first cust rep at Ford Corporate (she was quite polite and pleasant) I was not only concerned for my safety, but for the safety of unsuspecting owners who might find out the hard way, maybe tragically, that their Mavericks are defective too. She agreed with me that I had good reason to worry it was a fire hazard, and…

Sit down for this…

She suggested that I should inform other Maverick owners what the fix is if I was concerned, and IF my service center could figure it out.

I sh*t you not. She said this to me. Nice as she was, she said this to me.

That last thread started on Dec 28th, 2021. There are a bunch of videos there, including mine, which now have 7K views on YouTube. I’d like to make a “best of” list for my next video, showing how many people are having the same problem and are in the dark.

Now I'm really crossing my fingers as I should receive my truck within the next month and I live in the north. I don't frequently park in uncovered areas overnight or during a long day, but still....

Ford needs to fix this asap. If I go out early in the morning I always have to warm up my vehicles to get the frost off the windows. I also warm them up before going out with my kids. I was excited to know I could use Ford pass to remote start the Maverick. I wouldn’t need to go out in the cold to start it up.. Hope this is fixed before I get mine…

Mar 1 2022 2022 Maverick, 2020-2022 Escape – 2.5L FHEV – Idle Surge And/Or Rough Idle WithHigh Temperature In The Catalytic Convertor And Sulfur Odor In The Cab
Some 2022 Maverick and 2020-2022 Escape vehicles equipped with a 2.5L full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) powertrain may exhibit an idle surge and/or rough idle with high temperature in the catalytic convertor and sulfur odor in the cab. This may be due to the software installed in the powertrain control module (PCM).This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently developing a software update that is expected in the last week of March 2022. Once the softwareupdate is available, contact the customer and schedule a follow-up appointment for repair.

Thanks! Hopefully its truly fixed, as we won't be able to test it properly in the warmer weather.
