I have seen this on EB F 150s for years. I doubt ford will do anything. Not sure how they get that hot that fast.

This particular issue is becoming a bigger concern for me, especially since Ford does not seem to be acknowledging or addressing it. Lots of people experiencing this, lots of people guessing whats wrong and how to fix.

Maybe buying a 1st year model was not a good idea....
I am sure Ford engineers are working w/ dealer service departments to figure out this problem. They do have to diagnose the issue and come up with a fix before they can fix it. Or before a possible recall.

How can they address it if they don't know the cause or solution yet? Or know how widespread it may be?

They can acknowledge the problem and tell people not to warm up their car so stuff doesnt get burnt down. Just like they did with the radio freezing issue. They put out a manufacturer communication of the issue before they had fix.

First step in solving a problem is admitting you have one. So we are not even at step one.
I hope it's not a 12 step program.

You said the heater was on. I think I read somewhere here that the hybrids use the exhaust system to heat the vehicle? I wonder if the feature restricts the exhaust flow to raise the engine temp faster. Catalytic converters can reach temps over 2k degrees even when flowing properly.

I have an appointment on 3/11 for my dealer to look at mine. I’ll update you when I learn more. The dealer said they’ve never seen a hybrid Maverick yet and need to wait for a specialized tech to have time. That’s fine, because the way to prevent this in the short term is to not warm up the truck with the heat on. Hopefully I can report back with answers

I've also been wondering if this is related to the intentional reclaiming of exhaust heat, by design, for warming the cabin.

Why can’t Ford tell us ASAP? It’s an alarming smell and revving action. Id be shocked if it’s by design to warm the cabin. Car- and non-car people alike will walk up to the truck and know something is not right with the situation.

When the first Maverick burns to the ground, it will be escalated.

I've seen this Thread before. Is this only happening with the Hybrid's?

You must have missed that burned out Maverick thread from a few weeks back, where it was super obvious that the fire began in the engine compartment.

I am half joking since it looked to be a warm climate, but still.....we have already seen our first Maverick burn.

FoMoCo has posted on the forums today after being mentioned here. They have to know about this thread. The longer it goes ignored, more users will experience this unfortunately. At least they could come on and say that they are "looking it to it" at a minimum.

I saw it, wasn't aware of the details.
