Android Auto "COOLWALK" split screen (public stable release) working on my base XL Maverick!

Got in my truck after work and there it was. "CoolWalk" split screen on my base XL Maverick. I'm not in the Android Auto Beta. So they flipped the switch on the server side. No recent Android Auto app update either. So it really was a server side switch they flipped for folks who had a reasonably recent version installed.

How did it update? Was this an OTA ford update or through the android OS?

About time they did this. I switched from an Android to an iPhone and honestly, I hate the iPhone so much but carplay has been so much better than android auto ever was. Until now apparently.

I'm on the latest Android Auto version 8.5.624594-release. Even using a Google Pixel 6 Pro, not showing for me.

What version is your AA? In Settings/apps/Android auto at the bottom.

Nice- If you zoom out on maps does the usual "re-center" giant annoying icon appear ? If not I will be super happy

Thanks. I found a pretty good "90's alternative hits" Spotify station. Even if some of them are 2000's songs.

That's awesome. I truly enjoy the Model 3's software and will miss it.

I doubt Ford would allow any of the upcoming carplay updates to control the 6.5" info cluster screen that displays speed and the like, especially with sync 3 - so it is nice to see that the standard 7" screen is looking good with AA and CP.

Good question. I'll have to try it. All I did with it on the drive home was maximize and minimize the different screens to see how it works. I didn't use the navigation to guide me. Just a live view of my GPS location as I drove home.

Google likes to roll features and software updates out to users gradually, so not everyone will necessarily see the new Android Auto UI at once. It's the same thing with Android updates - not everyone will see it right away. So long as you're on the latest version, there is a change on the server side that will update you to the new UI once it's your time to receive it.

Of course they start the rollout when I'm out of town...looks great! Hopefully they switch it on soon for me as well.

So long as you're on the latest version, there is a change on the server side that will update you to the new UI once it's your time to receive it.

I am in the Google Maps beta, but that didn't seem to have any impact on when I got CoolWalk. But maybe they let me have it a bit earlier than others due to that. Who knows. Haha.

I just hope my Screen2Auto still works after this happens.

Is Coolwalk optional? Something you can turn off if you don't want it?
