That is correct. That's why I take a jug (5 quarts) and an extra 1 quart bottle to top it off to around 5.5.
You mentioned that you take a gallon jug along with your 1 quart bottle. A gallon is only 4 quarts. That's why I was checking.

I change my first oil at 800 miles with motor craft full synthetic and oil filter, change again at 2600 with Amsoil signature series and oil filter and will change both every 5k here on our. I will also have my transmission fluid drained and add every year.

A company called Blackstone is pretty famous for being one of the best. They are $35 for the OA but most people opt for the added TBN, so $45. They will send you the sample kit for free and you pay for the testing. It's all really simple. Even if you took your vehicle to the dealer to get your oil changed you could ask them to grab a sample for you and I'm sure they'd have no problem doing it and are likely used to it (or most do it themselves as well). Here is the site:

https://www.blackstone-labs.com/

Just hit the "get a free test kit" button and go from there (y)

It's a very popular thing now days. Instead of just guessing how long your oil change intervals should be, this is the best way to know if you are stretching too far or not far enough.
Thank you much for the info. My Maverick is slated for build week of 2/19/24 after a looong wait. Think I'll give the oil analysis a try.

I highly recommend it. It's never overkill when using good quality products on your vehicle. I've been using Amsoil Signature Series since the beginning.

I take my Maverick Hybrid to the Ford dealership I purchased it from to do the oil changes. I always bring with me a 1 Gallon jug and 1 Quart bottle of Amsoil Signature Series (0W-20). I provide the oil and the dealership provides the oil filter, tire rotation, basic multi-point inspection and labor. They've charged me $47 every single time. I'm taking it for its 4th oil change next month and I'll be doing it exactly the same.
I do the same for my Ranger, except I use Mobil 1. Price went up at my dealer, use to about 50, same service as what you stated, this last service was 97!!

Here are the questions that I think everyone should ask themselves:

1. How long am I going to keep this vehicle?

2. If I choose to spend significantly more money on the expensive oil, how much more life out of my engine can I expect compared to oil that "just" meets the specs (everything from Motorcraft to Walmart/Costco/Amazon oil)?

My personal opinion is that Amsoil is not worth it for the Maverick.

Any particular reason for changing from Mobil 1 to Royal Purple? Just curious.
There is no overkill.

I changed my oil at 900 miles with Mobil1 Full Synthetic, at 4,800 miles with Royal Purple Full Syn, and I am going to strictly adhere to every 5k with Royal Purple here on out unless my 10k oil analysis says that I am stretching it too far (I can't imagine that would be the case).

Always planned to use RP but the local store didn't have any in 5w30 and I was about to go on a road trip to my property in the mountains of Western NC so I wanted to get it changed out before the trip.

I don't believe RP Is as good as Amsoil but I do think it is a step above Mobil 1 and if purchased "in bulk" (5 gal container) it is nearly as affordable now.

They charge you $97 and you bring your own oil? Good Lord!

Considering using Amsoil Signature Series in my 2023 2.0 Ecoboost. Planning on using the OEM Ford oil filter and an OCI of 5,000 miles. Have 2,300 miles on it already and would like to keep it for a long time. I use it as a work vehicle and drive about 20,000 miles a year.
Anyone think that’s overkill?
This is not a recommendation but just a comment. A customer rep at All European Auto once told me that they use Mercedes vans with the turbo Diesel engine and use Amsoil. They change their oil at 25k intervals. At that time, many of their vans had 250k plus on them with no issues. I can't wait until everyone starts to critique this post lol!

And you wonder why one encounters the term "Stealership" so often. Really, a hundred dollars to install $25 dollars worth of oil, and an eight dollar filter? I avoid the OEM service department whenever possible, just my tight - OK, CHEAP style.

YUP, use to be 50

From my personal experience, dealership prices are pretty reasonable around the Los Angeles area. I assume it's probably because of the immense amount of competition. There's literally a car dealership on every corner.

I've heard of crazy stories of individuals residing in the Midwest and East Coast paying ridiculous prices for vehicle service and sometimes having to drive hours to get to their nearest dealership in minus degree weather.

But anyways, I will continue using Amsoil and Red Line oils in all of my vehicles. They provide great drivetrain protection.

I have yet to meet an engine that it is worth it.

Mobil1 is damn good, and a lot cheaper than AMSOil or Royal Purple.
