Despite having all the data and specs, if an oil isn't certified, would that be a reason for Ford (or other manufacturer) to deny a warranty claim?

That’s possible, but probably not. They would have to prove it was that. But amsoil also offers a warranty. Not sure if anyone has ever collected but it is worth a note

What other oils don't pay for the certs?
Every oil company.

Take Mobil, for example. They make a bunch of different 5w30 oils. Not just synthetic and conventional, but multiples - Mobil-1, Mobil-1 Truck & SUV, Mobil-1 High Mileage, Mobil Super, etc. Not every 5w30 oil they make meets every cert possible.

Look at Mobil Full Synthetic in 5w30. Basically their lowest tier synthetic. The only approval is has is GM dexos1:GEN3 Licensed.

But, it's recommended for other specs, like Ford's WSS-M2C946-A and it is listed as meeting or exceeding that spec. But it's not certified. Oher specs like WSS-M2C961-A1 it's not even in the recommended list, but is still listed as meeting or exceeding those specs. Again, not certified.

So they have tested it meet and exceed many, many specs -- but it's only certified to one.

Here's another interesting one. Mobil-1 Extended Performance High Mileage 5W-30. High Mileage oil and 20,000 miles of protection. Pretty much top tier stuff. But it has NO certifications. Again, lots of recommendations and meets or exceeds, but NO certifications.

All reasons why I’ll stick to FoMoCo products and let them do all my service work.
It simply eliminates the possibility of problems if I have an engine or tranny failure.

As much as I’ve got invested in my Maverick paying for dealer service work for piece of mind is worth every penny.
And if they screw up it’s on them.

Amsoil’s a proven product that’s been around along time just like
Mobil 1,
Pennzoil,
Like
Motorcraft.

I see no point in running any non certified not backed up by proper testing lubricants.
